It’s a good idea to carry a set of Walkie-Talkies. If you camp in areas where there is no or limited cell reception, a walkie-talkie is good to carry with you on hikes. You can also use it with a partner when backing into tight camp sites.

And another one that you should do is change out your suspension to independent suspension. It will make the ride so much smoother and you won’t get that something when you go over speed bumps. It also smooth out the rough rows that we have in the states the vibration started the wheels and worked their way up to the top of the RV and cause roof damage leaks around the AC units and inside damage slide damage all that stuff highly highly recommended.

I would add a fire blanket to your list
I have pretty much all the things you talk about (+ ladder and heated water hose) and we’re getting ready to head to Arizona again for some sunshine. I put our car carrier on the back hitch with a lockable tool box. I put the 50 and 30 amp cords with adapters and surge protector in there. My electrical connection is on the back and it saves me from dragging the long heavy 50 amp cord from the front storage, plus saves room for other items in the storage unit. We have a 2022 Keystone Arcadia 36′ 5th Wheel and 2020 2500 Ram 6.7.
I changed the standard key lock front door to a key pad style and use Simply Safe security system as well as a small safe to keep valuables in while away from the RV.
I have TireMinders on the RV and put another set on my dump trailer. Since the Tireminder has spots for many wheels, with one screen I can see the tire pressure group on the trailer I’m using. Cheers

Excellent presentation. After 6 decades of RVing I think you’ve got a comprehensive list of what’s needed. The only thing I’d change is get rid of the junk wheel chocks and plastic squares and stick with wood in 2X6 or 2X8 pieces in one foot lengths. They are so versatile for many needs.

Geez, you just discouraged me from buying an RV! You just mentioned about 10,000 dollars worth of essentials, and that’s not including the RV, a generator, weight distribution hitch, coupler lock and storage fees!! Guess I’ll stick to tent camping. All I need is a few logs, a mat to sleep on, a pizza, a box of fried chicken and an ice chest full of beer.

0:13 0:13 We are in the third year of our first travel trailer. Two trips ago our front slide would not extend at the campsite. Turns out the shafts to manually override the motors on each slide were never installed, regardless of the manufacturer’s contention that they both either fell off on the road, or even better, were stolen by someone who happened to need them. Being newbies two years ago, not something we would have wondered about. We got our exercise that trip going out the front steps and in the bedroom steps, and vice versa. Just a possible reminder for first time buyers, before it goes out of warranty.

We use the Trailer buddy instead of a bottle jack for changing a tire. It is a game changer if you are dual axel. You just drive the trailer up on the trailer buddy with the good tire. It pulls the bad tire off the ground. We also carry two spare tires. If you blow a tire it often damages the other tire. In the next 30 miles or so it blows and now you are stuck. Ask me how I know and it was on a holiday with nothing open.
I went from being super excited to buy our first camper to being very intimidated by the whole thing.
I would highly recommend a shovel, axe and hatchet to be added especially if camping remotely. Otherwise I LOVED the recommendations!!

This is superb information for beginners because i am one who will be buying one in the near future i will be making a word document as my cheat sheet thank you very much
Also, it’s good to stop by a fire station that has a hazmat vehicle and they can use their propane leak detector to check all your lines and connections, especially in older RVs. If you have a leak outside, your propane detector inside won’t pick it up and it has to be a higher concentration to set it off.
