Awesome I always have my whiskey and my gun with me in the woods. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ much safer then it sounds.

  2. @coachcaseyhill2890 on December 10, 2024 at 8:06 pm

The comment section seems trepidatious about the heart. Meanwhile Iโ€™m sitting here thinking โ€œwho the hell would enjoy coffee grinds in their foodโ€?

  3. @aparson2967 on December 10, 2024 at 8:07 pm

When you’re hunting you’re not carrying whiskey and coffee rub…..or oil…or cast iron pans, grills, or cooking mitts.

The recipe looks good at home, but it is not a field cook

Love this recipe, hoping I can use it to show my wife and sister inlaw how good heart really is

Dang that looks amazing. The steak meat too. Haha.

  8. @charlesdelone6861 on December 10, 2024 at 8:14 pm

If you want a really nice sear, dry your meat off before throwing it in the pan and use a super conservative amount of oil… best of you have a well seasoned pan and donโ€™t need any oil.

I have a plate of this infront of me as I write. Best recipe ever. And over the years I’ve eaten a lot of heart. Like I wrote, this is the best.

  10. @WarrenBronson on December 10, 2024 at 8:16 pm

Just used this recipe for an Oryx heart, and it’s amazing. Thank you

  11. @boxy8438 on December 10, 2024 at 8:16 pm

Based on my post 1 year ago. I finally tried this recipe. I slightly overcooked and learned the difference between butter and margarine spread. My sauce was a soup. But just experience to try again. Was still good.

  12. @danm8747 on December 10, 2024 at 8:17 pm

Iโ€™m planning on harvesting a deer in the next week or two and wanted to try a heart recipe.
    Iโ€™ll book mark this one

Beautiful cooking.โค…but how do you know the right time to take the meat off the fire…..to keep it medium rare….

  19. @jimdiroffii on December 10, 2024 at 8:23 pm

Just made this again, great recipe for heart. I cut mine into strips before cooking and use a timer, more surface area for seasoning. No more than 4 minutes total on the skillet. Thinnest pieces get pulled early.

  20. @sadrootbeer on December 10, 2024 at 8:23 pm

  21. @danielhogue6484 on December 10, 2024 at 8:27 pm

Butter and garlic salt in a cast iron skillet is all you need.

  22. @initialfunk on December 10, 2024 at 8:28 pm

I tried this. its was an absolute hit.
bunch of the old hunters were telling me not to cook the heart. "Weve tried. it was terrible." I served it up and the plate was empty in no time. Everyone was blown away.

Fresh venison heart, and liver, are two of the best things in a deer camp I know.

  39. @thedarkhush3264 on December 10, 2024 at 8:44 pm

Pfff ive used $100 22yr bourbon in cooking , even used 4 jerky marinade. You only live once, and i will have many more bottles in my lifetime.

  40. @flamecolumn on December 10, 2024 at 8:50 pm

Weโ€™ve always brined the heart in the fridge overnight, then cut it into pieces and cooked it on the grill as kebabs with onion, bell pepper and cherry tomato.
But weโ€™ve got three whitetail hearts in the fridge right now and canโ€™t wait to try this recipe tomorrow night.

  41. @stickbowsniper on December 10, 2024 at 8:50 pm

I made this and it tasted good. But when I poured in the whiskey to deglaze the iron skillet it immediately burst into flames that shot up 3′ and burned for about 6 seconds. So you guys be careful about that.

  42. @vitamind2387 on December 10, 2024 at 8:50 pm

It took years of convincing my dad to try heart. Well, last night he shot a buck. He used the Meat Eater tutorial video on how to clean the heart and then cooked with this recipe. He loved it! Heโ€™s now 66 years old and said โ€œall those hearts I left in the woodsโ€ฆ.โ€

  43. @austinpnw2235 on December 10, 2024 at 8:51 pm
