Here I go into a minimalist gear setup that I can take with me by itself or toss into any pack to be sure I have what I need even if I am in a hurry.

Awesome job hitting one million!! I enjoyed watching you retracing your dad’s steps on the long forgotten trail! Sucks scammers make things hard these days.
We have a bag that contains the essentials that hooks on to the top of our backpacking backpack that we unclip and put in our day pack for day hikes. Also I would like to win the 1 millionth year giveaway. I’m hoping to go to lost sierra point in a couple weeks. You should do a video soon on the spider caves in yosemite.
Congratulations on the million views!! Really enjoying the channel!! I’d love to win the giveaway! Thanks again! Cheers!
Congratulations on 1 million views. I enjoy all your videos
Nice list, I’d add an 11th essential – a light weight collapsible water bag.
I’d like to enter the 1 millionth view giveaway 😁
Absolutely gorgeous upload bud, you elaborated this so nicely! Love it! 🥾
Congrats on 1M and thanks for the idea of keeping everything in one bag so you can switch packs quickly! Well thought out! (And I’d like to enter your celebratory giveaway)
You are my ten essentials 🥰 Congratulations on your one million views!!!
I have lived in the Denver CO metro area, and I’ve been hiking and camping, and skiing in these Rockies for 33 years! I always have my backpacking pack ready for several days of backpacking , but I have been negligent in making an actual minimalist pack for my day hikes. Usually I just go up with some water, snacks , lighter and phone. After watching this video, I realized , I really should pack a minimalist bag, to just leave in my car, so now I’m going to do so , based on this video! Who knows , maybe this video might save my butt some day!
After watching this video, I saw you millionth view video!! Congratulations! I know I am a newer channel subscriber, but I really would like to be considered for the “Millionth View Giveaway” !!
Oh, by the way, I ran into your channel while deciding whether to buy Foxelli Boots , and ultimately decided against them ! Thanks for comprehensive review!
Congrats on a million views! Great content.
I like the idea of the 10 essentials in one bag not mixed in with everything else! I would like to win the One Million Views Giveaway!
Outstanding. I like the idea of having a separate pack with the 10 essentials. Congrats on 1 million views and soon to be 10k in subs! Keep up the good work! God bless you and your family.
Great job as always. I need to gather my things together like this as it makes so much sense. I would like to win the 1 millionth giveaway.
One thing I keep in my emergency kit is a tea candle. Amazingly, you can stay warm and dry by simply sitting down with your poncho on and placing the lighted tea candle between your feet!
Appreciated the 10 essentials review and happen to have the same whistle! Also liked the first aid kit from Backcountry Exposure. Congratulations on one million views and counting! Would love to win the giveaway! 🙂
I had not heard of the twn essentials. Very informative.
I like this idea of having all the items together and easy to transfer. Really enjoy your channel and congrats on the million views. I would like to win the giveaway!
Great video as always! Congratulations! As with all these other fine people, I’d love to win the millionth giveaway as well!
I really like the idea of separating these items into their own mini pack. I was thinking if doing that too.
Congratulations on 1M views! I’d love to win the giveaway.
I like the idea of keeping everything in one bag to move easily from pack to pack. Congratulations on your millionth view. I hope I win the gear giveaway.
I would love to win the 1 million veiw give away
Really smart putting the 10 essentials in 1 bag
I use my edc osprey pack for a day pack and carry most of these essentials every day.
Great idea having your ten essentials in one bag. That way you can grab it and go. Oh, by the way, I would love to win the awesome giveaway. Thanks Doug!
Nice video, I would really like to win millionth view giveaway.
Great video. If only everyone would carry the essentials. Could essentially be a lifesaver. I have a couple of the Vont headlamps and they are real workhorses. I’d love to win the gear you are so graciously giving forth to real followers. 😄
Congratulations on ur 1 millionth ViEw Love your videos very informative check list for a day trip in Yosemite Also I love all the trails in Yosemite I’ve never heard of Ty . New Sub here . Great Job. Entry into contest 🏕️I’ll b in Yosemite though hopefully there’s reception . Buenos Dias 😄
I really like the Hilltops Bag, the fact that you can make it into a Fanny pack, very handy! I’m constantly shifting stuff between hiking and biking packs. I’m going to get together a similar bag that I can just shift from pack to pack.
Also, I would really like to win the millionth view giveaway😊!
As many people as I hear say they have a space blanket and some cord to satisfy their shelter requirement, I have yet to see anyone demonstrate how to use said items in an effective manner. I DO carry a space blanket, but it is not in my “shelter” category!
Good video on essentials! That knife is pretty nice looking. Glad you’ve hit 1 mil and it would be great to win the gear giveaway.
Great video! I’d really love to win the one millionth view giveaway.
You can actually get these great little rolls of duct tape on the Amazon some in two packs, they are about the diameter of a highlighter but with only a very narrow solid cardboard stick in the center. Of course you could always make your own by wrapping full-size duct tape rolls around disposable chopsticks or something, but I don’t want to lose any more adhesive by doing that. My essentials bag also includes a wire saw, and then I have seperate pouches for additional winter and summer essentials.
Congratulations again on reaching one million views, maybe in the near future it will be one million subscribers! And I would like to enter the Robot-discrimination giveaway 😂 and thank you for running it.
Love watching your videos. I’ve been thinking about getting a head net for a while. Might go ahead and get one. I would love to win the giveaway. I could really use the bear bag and bondry!! And the stick stasher seems pretty cool.
I tried to carry a minimal hiking kit then I remembered in order to to the hiking area I most often hike at I need to cross over a major/long highway by way of a freeway overpass and since I live in Los Angeles if the San Andreas woke up that would most likely collapse and I wouldn’t be able to get home so I just carry my regular day hike backpack/gear now.
Bummer, I went camping last weekend and forgot about the gear 1 Millionth Gear Giveaway. If you have to redraw a winner, please include me in the 2nd drawing.
Congrats on 1M views! I’d love to win the giveaway! (no restrictions for Canadians?)
Really like the dual purpose ditty bag / fanny pack. I would like to win the giveaway. Congratulations on 1 million.
Congrats on one million views. I’d like to win that giveaway
Big congratulations on millionth view ! I would love giveaway. Keep it up fellow 👍
Congratulations on the million views. Hope to win the giveaway
Great video as usual, very informative. Congrats on 1 million views, and I would love to win the gear giveaway!
I have been keeping a bag for my ten essentials much like this for a couple of years. Didn’t think iot was very clever, until I saw you explain it.
I like to put some Leukotape on parchment paper and usually keep a strip in my wallet and a strip or 2 in my medkit for my backpacking equipment. I also keep a small sheet of tenacious tape in medkit. Great vid it would be great to win the giveaway.
I like the hilltop packs bags. I’d like to enter the 1 millionth view giveaway and then maybe I can get one.
Great idea using emergency style gear and putting together a UL 10 essentials kit. Congratulations on 1 million views. That is amazing! I’d love to have that gear you’re giving away❤
Love watching the channel grow buddy
Great idea keeping the 10 essentials in one place. Congratulations on your one millionth view.
Nice.
I do something similar with my rain gear. All of it together weighs just over a pound, but it is bulky; like 5-10 liters.
I keep it in a "packable" shoulder bag which only weighs a few ounces.
That way I can sling it over my shoulder in addition to whatever pack I am using that day.
Congrats again on the one millionth view. Awesome achievement. It would be great to win the contest you’ve organized. To me, that bug net is a must have when its in season.
Been making a kit for my day hikes. Good info to think about thanks
