Got a food plot question, if you have a bad brassica crop….is it OK to replant?
Done Dec 15th here in NH. No late season hunts for us!
Even though I live in the south, I was able to apply some of your advice (but customized them to my area). I went from 0 deer to my 1st buck (8pts) and a 2nd beautiful 6pts buck. Thanks a lot. Watch how your videos are making a difference in people’s lives

had a small 7 pointer at 20 yards today drinking water from a small crick after browsing the woods for forage for a while… 3 does come in after at 75 yards and drank water too…..
never discount random water sources
Jeff, you’ve mentioned that corn shouldn’t be planted for food plot screen, so how would you incorporate corn in food plots?
Shoot the big old does…they are smart as any big buck….the big old does will stay together..they don’t give birth any more…the stay together cause they all are smart
Merry Christmas to you and your family. Thanks for the info
I see you wear Merino Wool gear…I will not leave the house unless i have layers of Merino.Light, warm and just perfect.Take care
I only buy 2 to 4 tags per year in Michigan. I buy the combo and two antlerless tags and that’s it. I don’t always fill them either.
My hunt is over now though I spoked the buck I have been hunting for a couple weeks now. Highly pressured 100 acre state plot. Only access I have to him is through a creek I dump into it and move SLOW. Well invisible ice I broke on accident and he hoped up right in front of me about 30 or 40 yards and ran no flag so I sat down and grunted once and hoped he would turn around but he never came back I sat for awhile knowing the hunt is gone now. So I followed his prints and he never stopped once he b lined and ran miles away
Great video and I thought you made some great points about knowing when to hunt does or not. My question was how do we find that information out?
I live on the edge of a 5,000 acere bog in Maine, is there a crop I can plant in the wet areas that has good nutritional value for deer
U are filling my brain with knowledge thanks sir
Thank you! I appreciated your advice on this topic. My first time hunting deer this year. The rut was pretty easy I thought on private land, but I’m struggling a little with public late season. The weather just turned cold here, and I was able to locate a food plot near to public land with deer as I was leaving today…so hopefully tomorrow I can find some tracks in the area I’m going!
Every hunter in OK needs to watch first few minutes of this video regarding killing does. Too many people think it’s ok to shoot as many deer as they have tags for that year. It’s just terrible management and the tag limit in this state needs to be lessened. 2 doe and 2 buck per person limit is absurd.
Jeff…I absolutely would love to come and hunt w you meet you shake your hand and personally thank you for all you do…I have followed many of your videos I love watching you n listening to your advice and tips…Im dead serious id love to meet you come hunt w you and spend some quality time w you heck…id even love to be able to invite you to my camp for next season . I hear you mentioned you hunt around Bradford pa allegany reservoir..lol..I grew up there we have a camp just outside of bradford…your more than welcome to come hunt w us….btw I got my first archery buck this year on Nov 12th…thanks so much for all your knowledge and hard work and sharing it w all of us….
I’m from the thumb areas and as you know it seems like the late season deer herd up in all these private fields and makes me envoys because I’m confined to state or hap land
PA flintlock season is some of the most fun hunting all year. First weekday after Christmas through mid-January and your "buck only" tag becomes an any sex tag. Win. Win.
Great Video Jeff! We have 5 yearling bucks living on our place this late season. Building that buck herd through following your advice. Hope you and the family have a great Christmas.
Your right about the crossbow haters Jeff. We need more hunters in our dying sport!
Great video!! Thank you for sharing .
Merry Early Christmas to you and your family Jeff. I am beginning to turn old overgrown pasture into food plots, security cover, and regeneration (6 acres). I plan to cut the Junk-trees flush with the ground and remove the trees. Do you think that I can simply drive over these "flush to ground" stumps while working the food plot, i.e. drive over them with the ranger or atv while pulling the culit-packer? … The junk trees are 6 -12 inches in diameter… I want to use your strategy of planting Buckwheat in late spring and then culti-packing it after I have over-seeded early to mid-August. (Ideally it’s probably best to "grub out" those stumps with a dozer, but that is a big expense for me). Many thanks!
Jeff,
Do you or your clients continue using water troughs into the late season months? Located in northern WI (Hayward area) and am wondering if there is a solution for deicing water troughs in these later months? Solar powered water heaters? Any products you would recommend for this?
Thank you for your time and happy holidays,
Billy
Sure wish I had someone like you to make videos and stuff about Ga. The only thing more rare than snow here is seeing bucks after the rut. LoL
Nice
Happy Holidays to you and your family Jeff!!!
when you’re hunting in a $10,000 tree house, you lose all credibility. You’re not hunting. You’re a rich B#### who simply likes killing shit. Bet you don’t even get your hands dirty. Teach the youth how to HUNT, not be gay in a tree house.
Another excellent Video . I as a Hunter thank you and I Hope that all Hunters thank you for your Brilliant Knowledge.
Jeff ,I want to wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.I know this is off topic, but what brand of Ladder stands do you hunt out of and how high do you like to get in a tree to hunt?
No offense Jeff, but talk about the shrinking hunters and you’re one of the biggest proponents to getting private land and posting it. It’s harder and harder to find land to hunt. I appreciate all your info, regardless
Thank you for the informative videos. I have learned so much from you. Merry Christmas to you and your family. Be careful. God bless .
I’ve been watching your channel religiously every since I found it I hunt central Indiana I’ve had a lease on this property for 17 years they raise cattle and it’s great property I’m blessed to have but over the years they’ve let cattle take fences down so now they don’t plant the same way I’m having trouble holding deer I’ve seen maybe 20 does entire season lots of bucks but I can’t hold them because the cattle eat anything I try to plant for the deer and the farmer isn’t into me fencing off a plot in his cattle ground which I totally understand just wondering if there could be any tips I could get thrown my way
Another Excellent video. I’m new to hunting and went through rifle season without getting my first buck. Saw lots of does but held out. Want my first deer to be a byck. Been practicing my bow for about 20-30 mins a day for 2 months and going for my first bow hunt tomorrow. Need to thank you for your content on yt. It’s what helped guide me the most through figuring out hunting. Right down to the broadheads I’ll be using tomorrow. For real, I truly appreciate the effort you put into these and giving information that took years to accumulate.
How can you tell when food is unpressured?
What do you have in those buried water tanks
Still no snow here in eastern Iowa, gunna get out and bow hunt the end of the season
def see action toward evening times of them on the move to the fields to eat north east not much snow hasn’t really stuck to being cold but they have been on the feed especially in ny Connecticut similar but I want to get better at finding them on the feed in the inner wood line
I live in Colrain Massachusetts, this year there wasn’t much for acorns
No rain, so I been hunting a on little over 130 acres my self.shoud I just stick to the fields?? I trying to find a way to send a picture of the property.
Wait a min u need to take your own advice u opened this video with asking about 2nd rut a video before u said that’s a myth and u can’t stand that wth 😂
What’s the most bucks you have got in one deer season?
Gonna take a few does this week we’ll try to gonna practice spot and stalk on them
In most states you can use a lesser weapon any how…like in MD..during gun season you can use bow or black powder….I always bow hunt the early black powder season…..helps not stir up deer before the rut comes
How do you recommend knowing to shot does or Not ??
If you asked me a year ago if i wanted to watch videos from someone that primarily targets bucks on groomed land, if have probably laughed.
The reality is that your grooming has really given you the insight that a lot o people could never have. Completely changed my mind about things and have learned a bunch.
Im still not clear on why shooting does reduces the population because 1 buck can sire many, many fawn. Do the deer have an offset birth ratio that favors male fawn?
Thanks Jeff.
I just make a food plot for them with corn piles and apple corn in my shooting lane in my box blind high up and sit quietly no calling and they ran out for sure just got to wait til they not being chased my bucks it’s the second rut here now but I got one so freezer full from the biggie I shot last year so just needed a small deer.
I don’t know what we have done to deserve the knowledge you offer, but you are doing a great service and I consider myself in your debt sir. I hang on your every word. Thank you.
Got plenty of water and plenty of late season food hoping for a good close to fill my last tag! I shot a 130 inch 3.5 yr old Dec 13 my biggest to date!! Thanks Jeff for all the great info!!
Good video! I’m in upstate NY, around the southern tier, and have recently have started to hunt on my own. I currently have access to a 7mm rifle for rifle season, but I’m in college during the majority of the season, and can only really hunt for a week around thanksgiving time for rifle. I also have a .50 cal muzzleloader that I’ve been using, today being the last day of that season. I’m hoping next year to get me a bow and to really hit the trifecta. Anyway, great content, thank you for the tips, happy hunting!
I’ve had a bad year. Small deer in the woods that’s allll I’ve seen. Bedding in the morning and food in evenings. 80 acres about 35 of its woods. It’s just not set up for big buck bedding.the neighbors property has a huge plot massive beeding areas but we have the woods what can I do to get these deer on our side?
I havent felt like a good hunter but thanks for still calling me a deer hunter even though I havent killed a buck with my bow this year!😂
