Look what sheep have.
Lanolin
Dilute lanolin enough with alcohol to be able to spray the tent.
It works wonders. I think it breathable. It doe attract dust.but not much dust when it rains
Ideal camp! I will use it as a reference.
Good ideas !
I bought an 18in floor fan. It is rechargeable so you can use a battery pack if need be. I’ve watched a lot of camping from different parts of the world and Asians use the larger floor fans. There’s no reason not to if you have a powered site. The difference it makes is just crazy.
The last tip is genius!! Thank you!!
Where do i find the little tarp at the entrance?
If a pole got damaged, can it be replaced?
Great video guys 😄
I used the box method of leaving my shoes outside at a Kern River trip and the next day…If I didn’t look into my left hiking boot, I wouldn’t have seen that massive spider! DAMN! Dodged one 🙂 Bring a closable tupper ware for your water socks/shoes etc.
Tent tips for people that don’t like being outside 😂
sorry but you try packing all that in a backpack
Great tips!
🔥🔥🔥 Great info simple hacks love it❤ thanks a bunch
Been years since we tent camped but we would use good size cardboard under the tent to give comfort against rocks. Cardboard is also an insulator. We took off shoes but would store in the tent.
Just subscribed! Thanks for the video 😊We are embarking on full-time tent, camping and just 35 days and need all the tips and tricks we can get!
This is amazing, thank you guys.
Here is a skill set that works.
Background: Tent floors leak, weep, or seep. If not on day 1, just wait.
A major cause of open leaking, is from punctures. A footprint tarp will contribute a bit of protection, until it gets punctured itself. Tent makers love to sell you a $5-$10 piece of light weight tarp for $30-$50.
To protect your tent floor, and prevent punctures, FIRST, clean the area. I use the long edge of a trowel to scrape away stones, sticks, broken glass, pop lid tabs, pine cones, etc. THAT, PROTECTS THE TENT FLOOR.
I make a bathtub to go into the tent FIRST, before anything else goes in. Measure the length and width of the floor. At the hardware, buy a piece of sheet plastic (visqueen) at least 1 foot longer and 1 foot wider. On the floor at home, spread it out. Mark and cut with shears. Fold up a 6” cuff along each edge. Miter fold each corner, and secure it with duct tape.
In camp, put this bathtub into the tent first! Arrange that 6” cuff all around. THAT PROTECTS THE CAMPER!

Glow stick on zipper pull why didnt i think of that
Some decent tips for beginners. Good job.
Folding your tent into thirds obviously only works for particular tents. Just look at the length of your tent bag to figure out how many times to fold the tent before rolling it. Also roll it as tightly as you can, because this makes it much easier to fit back into the bag.
For those who don’t want to lay a tarp and then a tent and then another tarp and then some rubber tiles… I sometimes just put a cheap rubber-backed picnic rug inside the tent. This gives a little extra insulation from the ground and it’s sort of like having the comfort of a carpeted floor. It’s also still easy to clean.
What brand and model of tent are you using in your video?
This literally defeats the purpose, might as week install a hardwood floor
great tips and important too! we found bringing a ‘dust-buster’ type cordless vacuum helps with dirt AND flying or crawling pests that find their way in!
My best camping tip?
Don’t waste any precious space in your beer/coolbox with those plastic iceblocks!
Instead, make up your pancake mixture at home and pour it into empty 500ml plastic bottles, then freeze them.
Use these to keep your beer etc cold.
Then 2 or 3 days into your camp, once they’ve defrosted, you have pancake mixture ready to pour straight out of the bottle to cook.
It’s basically edible coolant 😂
And, let’s be honest, you’ll have drunk all your beer by then 😂
You can do the same with milk. Keep just one bottle ready to use, but freeze any others and use as coolblocks. By the time you’ve run out of fresh milk, the frozen ones will be ready to use.
But my pancake mixture bottles are by far my favourite hack!
Everyone loves pancakes around the campfire 🔥
tip 4, never leave your door open because of bugs
tip 5, leave your windows open 🙂
Cargo blankets are great inside the tent on the floor. You can take them out and shake the dirt off. Soft!!!
Excellent suggestion that oter videos didn’t mention 🎉
Try using a glow necklace or bracelet for your zipper pulls on the tent door to make it easier to find them at night and you can use them as the zipper pull. You can usually get a can with a bunch of them which is good bc
Each one lasts only 1
Night.
All solid advice!
The last one – wish I’d thought of that YEARS ago!
That’s not what real camping is. We have to go hard. Though the tarp is important, rest of the things aren’t required especially when you have to trek first before camping.
Great stuff!! Some new to me after camping 30+ years!! Thank you!!!
Inside my tent I use a moving blanket on the floor. They’re inexpensive and help keep the floor clean. A bit of cushion to walk on and help keep the tent warm inside and cozy.
The fan is genius.
I find it helps in cold weather to put a cheap thermal space blanket underneath your tent on top of the tarp
I was worrying about floor punctures setting a tent up on a campsite with a gravel pad. Watching this video made me think that maybe I could lay down a tarp, but instead of placing foam tiles on the inside, put them between the tarp and tent. The tarp might help keep the tiles clean and protected against sharp gravel. 🤔
What I dont get is why videos like this exist, I click on a video like this because Im always looking for tips when im in the backcountry, miles away from civilization, and all the tips are for people living out of their cars for 2 days. Like why do you need tips and tricks, when anything you need or want is in your car, or a car ride away? Like are there tips and tricks videos for sleeping in your back yard? No, because just go into the house if there is a problem, this feels a lot like that to me. You want me to bring pool noodles, 3 tarps, glow sticks, fans, candles, foam panel flooring etc? We need a new name for REAL camping, and what ever this living out of your car stuff is, so "Camping Hacks" videos arent full of this pointless fluff.
So the mosquitoes and flies dont enter from window? They just know the door way?

Sweeping a tent floor will often build static electricity. Now, the floor is attracting and holding the dirt. Instead, use a dampened sponge to wipe the floor clean. Lighter, cheaper, and more effective. Then, rinse the sponge and squeeze it.

Hint #15: leave the tent windows and door partially open when folding the tent, so trapped air can escape easier when you roll it
A little to much emphasis on comfort inside the tent and a bit to much crap to take along. If comfort is so important to a camper then stay at a hotel. Camping has its share of… camping. People today are soft and want to take soft everywhere they go. Go into the rough country and it’s a shame that the rough country is rough. If you want a camping experience like those in your backyard as a kid where you could go into your house in the middle of the night because you were not on a sleeping air up bed, then stay home. This video is crap. Camping in a tent is not for the pansy who is concerned first with comfort. Think first about what camping really is before you worry about comfort.
Pro car camping tips!
Thrift store, goodwill or yard sales…….. get one of those big rolling suitcases. I put my air mattress, bedding, pillows, pop up lanterns and small battery operated fans in it. All my "bedding" gear is in one place when I grab and go. Also….old tool box can be used for your "kitchen". My small camp stove, small coffee pot, silverware, plates, cups and small pots and pans fit in it and easy to carry.😊
Great for backyard or car camping…but for real camping these are ludicrous, a dust pan?
Very helpful. The inside floor tarp is a good idea. I don’t tent camp much any more, but I may start back. I’d bring that basket of shoes inside my tent at night though. Here in Texas we have lots of critters that will crawl inside your shoes. 😮
I use a covered tote for shoes outside to keep out spiders, snakes, mice, etc.
I’m a very experienced car camper. I always enjoy seeing ideas that I may not have thought of. I will soon be taking young grandchildren camping for their first time. I love the glow-stick-on-the-door-zipper idea! In cold weather, I place a wool Army blanket on the tent floor. I keep a small whisk broom in the trunk of my small car. I truly enjoy my "real" car camping road trips, all over this country. Thanks.
Thank you for these tips!! I love the glow sticks!! The pool noodles also helps when breaking down. It secures coolers (and countless other things) providing spacers to avoid damage. I couldn’t live without my dustpan/broom when I tented. No way am I rolling up the debris in my tent when storing. Thanks again for these videos!!
a big mistake when laying down a tarp. It’s important ground tarp not be larger than the footprint of the tent. Lest you collect all the water sheeting off tent walls which collects around the perimeter and goes under tent floor!
Great tips, but mostly not for backpackers!
The pool noodle hack on the tent lines may have saved me from a few trips and falls lmao😂 Great video!!
