I am a mother and grandmother, I know absolutely nothing about fishing. I watched your video, went to Walmart and purchased the items in your video. About one hour later I caught my very first Bass! I was so surprised! I am hooked on fishing! Thank for your tips!

It doesn’t come with “string” and you don’t need to “string it”. It come with “line” And you don’t need to “spool” it

  5. Joe's Oregon Fishing on September 16, 2019 at 7:48 pm

Excuse but did you just say STRING?!

    Here’s a better tip.
Buy a rod and reel set up (Spinning preferably).
Take all the line off and go to you’re local tackle shop and they will spool you up for 3$.

  9. Logan Scurto on September 16, 2019 at 7:53 pm

  23. E Salas on September 16, 2019 at 8:12 pm

Instead of the nail clippers buy a cheap knife for like $2 at Walmart if needed you can use it to cut line and possibly clean a small fish

As a kid I just tied string to a stick I found in my backyard. I bent an old nail for the hook. Of course all I could catch were tiny little things.

  25. Rommel Cruz on September 16, 2019 at 8:16 pm

I got the zebco 33 combo! Been my favorite ever since! I love Walmart! I love to keep it cheap and simple. Awesome video man, thanks for sharing!

I got two cheap spinning rods for my first rods ever with this combo being one of them but as soon as I opened the bail to cast a lot of line would unwind off the reel and I’d get bad rats nests… any suggestions? Could it be that the reel comes with too much line already on it?

  41. Celesse on September 16, 2019 at 8:28 pm

Very helpful video! Thanks. 🙂 I used to fish all the time when I was younger, but it’s been 23 years and I have forgotten a lot of this stuff. Excited to bring my daughters fishing soon!
