This is exactly what saved me from leaving planet Earth for good when I was experiencing my first severe mixed mania after covid, which made me extremely sensitive to sound and/or light exposure, otherwise I would have hurt someone (or myself) badly.
I’m really finding these videos helpful.
that’s shinrin yoku or forest bathing
Japanese people took "touching some grass" to a whole another level.
I live in Florida so I went in the woods to bathe, an alligator took my arm and leg, thanks a lot lady!
I support this 💯 from experience 🪷
And then there desert peeps 😢
Shinrin Yoku!
I’m in the middle of a major city and I only can just have a houseful of plants . I had noticed decades ago that if I spend a lot of time with them I feel a lot more relaxed. I wish I did have a nearby first but even the local park doesn’t have a semi forested area
Since I have no forest I do in my yard the feet mud bath get the water hose get the ground muddy..
healing is in mother’ nature . And I hug my magnolia tree .Trees are living beings
who’s flowers are bigger than my head.
I’m pretty miserable to be around if I don’t get a daily dose of the natural world. I don’t understand people who don’t get out there in the dirt, trees, lakes, rivers, etc frequently and say that they’re happy & fulfilled. I’m pretty sure they’re lying to themselves.
this has nothing to do with the video, but I always like @Drtracey hair. Again i know, neither here nor there.
back to the video, could it be done through a vr forest experience, or does the person have to find an actual forest in which to experience these healing benefits?
Whenever I’m in the forest it’s not about where I am and what I see. It’s about where I’m not and what I can’t see (what can’t reach me), like work, bills…etc.
It’s an escape. Plus, while it seems peaceful,
one bad step (on a snake, in a hole, in the path of a bear/cubs) can end you. You have to pay attention to the forest because the forest is paying attention to you. You can’t help but forget the stresses of life back at home.
It can’t last forever, but it’s nice.
This is powerful! I experienced it by accident I was like what is happening?!
Forest bathing is based on humble living practices – it’s how it used to be back in the olden days for many.
It’s to do with negative ions – walk in barefoot in the grass or sand to get the food effects of earth’s negative ions
Sources on these studies?
Oh I agree; love going to the woods
I like it..Dr…you are so beautiful
❤❤❤❤❤
I had cured my opioid addiction while I had access to hiking in the forest each day. (the forest was practically in my backyard) But when I had to move back to my old home, I of course relapsed.
I had made so many self improvements and got so much exercise when I had the forest. All that improvement went down the drain after I lost it.
I see that it’s impossible to improve without the forest. And you have to be so lucky to have practical access to the forest.
I believe it. Lately I feel drawn to a park near my house to get that forest feeling. Old trees and grass 😊
I don’t feel like meditation alone does much for me. I don’t feel like getting out in nature alone is enough. Kind of combing both – aka focusing on that park tree – feels amplified
This should be mandatory to do every morning
I use to take my kids Bird Watching in the forest, it’s the most peaceful thing you can do with the earth around you….. Invest in a decent pair of Binoculars, hiking boots and a Canteen for water.
I need to find a forest stat!
This is so informative and makes complete sense !! I NEED to be in the woods , alone or with my dog usually , I have CPTSD and so it’s good to know that it is so helpful to me. ❤
I love this Lady
People need to take care of nature.
I grew up next to a state Forrest. It DEFINITELY makes a difference with what is going on in my life today
My family and I just casually go to the river lol good to know we were doing our brains a favor.
This makes sense as my blood pressure & anxiety has decreased significantly since moving into a forest.
Stronger prana flow to needed areas instead of being ……….
I’ve been forest bathing all my life! Being outdoors in the forest or at the beach off season brings tranquility to me. When I’m super stressed, I head to the woods or if I don’t have time, I garden.
Dr. Marks is brilliant. Thank you! 😊❤
Japan has enormous hornets in their forests that have gained a foothold in the Pacific Northwest. Efforts are ongoing to eradicate the Japanese hornet around Seattle and Vancouver.
I used to be able to go walking in the woods whenever I had time. I have moved and haven’t been able to in years. I miss it tremendously and it’s the only thing that really truly relaxes me.
Recare. The walk is up to and down do not yoile uf tpilet mkve 30.meters away from stream or it the viruses will attack and u will ill. The gealing is for all specues thst clean . Hence demonstrste at estaury the natute invites
Does anyone do it barefoot?
Sort of like the alt-rock version of the Wim Hof method I suppose.
Nice to learn something new that if practiced can improve my health.😊
I feel so calm when I’m in the forest.
I’m a literal tree hugger. I have to touch the leaves, the dirt, the little bugs. I want to just stay there till I die.
I once took a shower in a waterfall. It was wonderful
I approve this message. I live on the nature isle of the Caribbean, the Commonwealth of Dominica, and whenever i do my monthly hikes i feel so much less stressed. I always wondered if monthly was sufficient, now i know.
Thank you for sharing.
I live near a city that used to have trees everywhere. And small forest were just a town away. Now the cities are killing all the trees, swamps, farms, and even old neighborhoods to make more concrete, traffic , and heat death. We used to have neighborhood stores, daily rains, and a real fall season. I hope humans get a clue soon how to live, so that we can have breathing again. Moving out to the country to make more stores and highways is not good. Bring some country back to our cities and towns. We also need darkness. and quiet.
The trip home stresses me right back to baseline.
We just call this camping!
I like this doctor who is a mixture of science and common sense without the undertone arrogance of a know it all, ever though she does seem to know, if not all, she seems very grounded with what I’ll just call Gaia as a metaphor.
Whenever people bring up how nifty the forest is for your mental health, I always think of the Aokigahara forest in Japan. It’s one of the most popular su!cide destinations in the world. One person’s pleasure is another person’s pain.
As a sailor I’d love to see a study to scientifically check my hunch that spending time on the water has similar effects.
