We are currently dog free. Ours passed away and still not ready for another. Will most likely be cat 🐈 people. We have taken the cats before but leave them home most of the time.

I thought about getting a cat, I even got in touch with a rescue centre, explained I live in a camper with The Bruce and asked if they had a suitable robust cat that would like walks. They didn’t have a cat to fit the bill.

Basically, as much as possible, the trip, or lifestyle must revolve around the dog. And definitely being aware of temperatures.
If I go shopping on a hot day, I leave Bruce with the side door open a bit, driver window down, I spray him with water, have a fan blowing on him, then rush like heck to do my shopping. He has his lead and harness on, and attached to something… so if anyone was daft enough to open the side door fully, they’d be met by Bruceifer, but he wouldn’t be able to get out the van.

Hi friends. These are great tips. Not having control of your dogs is a big one. Just because you want to take your dog with you doesn’t mean your dog has the best temperament for camping. Thanks for putting all these great pointers together.

I noticed you spent some extra time w/ the couple who had the boxer… lol subconscious or on purpose? lol 14:09 is where it’s at, guys…. Cats rule!!! haha
On each of my last two camping trips, there was one dog at each place that constantly barked. The owners would just sit there and ignore it. It was extremely annoying to us other campers, but I guess the owners just kind of tuned it out because they’re used to it. And both instances, the dogs just wanted to be held and not left in a pen. I was glad to see in this video that some owners mentioned that it’s important to keep your dogs under control and not allow them to bark a lot. I only wish that all owners would feel that way.
We have a 12 year old Golden that camps with us. She loves hanging out with her camp dog friends. Nice video. Get a Golden, I’m with Red on this one
Great format to share lots of great pet info. We love having our little baby 🐶 with us. Since our Havenese is only 16 pounds, we’ve found that we can take her with us on short hikes using our doggie pack back. She loves being with us and allows us to take her into the National Parks that don’t allow pets walking on the trails. Thanks for sharing and safe travels, John and Bev

Lots of good advice on pets! We don’t have pets, so we just pet all the pets at the campground when we go on walks. They are like our grandchildren, pet them and send them home.😁 This was awesome, lots of information! I think you should breakdown and get the two dogs.🤔😁😜🐢💖

We traveled with a Golden the first 5 or 6 years on the road fulltime. Challenges you bet but he was part of the family. Now that he is gone we have decided no pets until we settle back down again.
