Down here in Florida it was about a month ago and I had a day that I was only getting bites from fat bedding females, I caught my PB that day on a jerk bait and it was awesome (5.7) lbs
Small trout sized cranks especially in bright colors have always outfished everything else during the pre spawn for me like size 5 and 7 cm flicker shads and shad raps. Can’t get the prespawn smallies to remotely be interested in summer time lures or chase them more than a few feet. Have had 20 inchers follow down little cranks for 30 plus feet before hitting flicker shads tho. Never really works any other time of the year though. Very strange for me.
