Sports, Recreation & Outdoor Adventure in Denver

With more than 300 days of sunshine each year and hundreds of options for sports and recreation, Denver, Colorado, will inspire you to get outside and try something new. Brave the rapids at Confluence Park in a whitewater kayak or stand-up paddleboard. Take a cruiser ride along the Cherry Creek Trail, or hit the rails at Denver Skatepark, one of the largest skateboarding parks in the country. Pack a picnic lunch for a day of volleyball and paddle boating at beautiful Washington Park. Fitness aficionados can take an outdoor workout or yoga class or participate in the annual Colfax Marathon. Challenge a friend to a tennis match or a round of ping pong at Ace Eat Serve restaurant in North Capitol Hill.

After you’ve had your fill of city fun, hike among towering red-rock formations or explore hundreds of miles of mountain biking trails in the nearby Rocky Mountains. And, of course, you can ski, snowboard or snowshoe at one of the many winter resorts just a short drive from Denver. More of a spectator? Cheer on Denver’s pro sports teams, including the Denver Nuggets, Colorado Avalanche, Denver Outlaws, Colorado Mammoth, Colorado Rockies, Colorado Rapids and Denver Broncos. And no matter what form of recreation you choose, make sure to relax afterward with a local beer, cider, cocktail or glass of wine on one of The Mile High City’s inviting outdoor patios.
