Just started fishing. Love it. I live in the US Virgin Islands. I fish inshore on beaches and rocky shorelines. I have a Penn SPO fisher VI combo I like it.

This is Awesome! I live in Arkansas and I go fishing 2-3 times a week with success. I’m headed to California for over a month. It’ll be the first time I’ve fished in the Ocean. I appreciate the advice on not using your fresh water reels because of the salt.

I have a 7ft rod so while I’m there I’ll pick up a salt water reel. Thanks for the advice ๐Ÿ˜‰

  14. @Jaquableu on March 9, 2025 at 12:40 am

This was fantastic. I am about to start fishing again after a 20 year absence. Now I know I am the hunter type, not the trapper type. I would rather be active trolling for fish then waiting for a bobber. I remember always using squid on my mama’s dock. I cannot wait. Thanks for the info. By the way, what about rays? I know they were good but you had to watch out for tails, cut them off and skin the wings. But the best seafood I have ever eaten.. Any tips?

  28. @lukasvos2580 on March 9, 2025 at 1:00 am

Yo… This channel is pretty sick guys…. I have been looking at getting into fishing for so long now… My wife and I moved to the west coast of South Africa Bout 4 yrs ago, thats about how long I have been wanting to, but just never get into because I am probably just overwhelmed with all the different aspects and options of setting up a good rod and rig, and when you get to your local fishing store its like the guys are just trying to sell you everything coz your still dumb…. Where do I start? I have a lot of beachy soft long shallow beaches, and a lot of pinasula like rocky spots all within a 20 mile radius.

  29. @sarithnaidoo5177 on March 9, 2025 at 1:01 am

Im not from the usa im actually from southern Africa but i love your channel not a day goes by without me watching your channel.. Keep it up

  32. @Shihabdeenrecreationalcyclist on March 9, 2025 at 1:08 am

Hi I am a beginner to fishing with no experience with rod. How to choose a rod and reel. I don’t want invest more money purchasing high quality branded rod and reel and break it without proper use and mishandling without proper experience in that. As a beginner with no experience at all in fishing rod and reel what would you suggest to be a good fisherman for beginners

I like to help my name is josh I love caughting scups

  38. @marvinmurakami8828 on March 9, 2025 at 1:14 am

I’d recommend fishing from a pier. You don’t need a fishing license and the sabiki rig shown here could be dropped straight down preferably close to the pilings. You’re bound to catch a lot of small perch and mackerel.
You can then hook up small mackerel to cast out and catch a large variety of bigger fishes.
Many people may not want to spend or don’t have the money for the rig he has. I’m guessing the total cost for his rod and reel is around 600 dollars.
You can get an Ugly Stix big water rod for around 70 dollars and a lower cost (50 to 100 dollar) excellent reel from Shimano, Daiwa, and Okuma. I recently got a Runcl Titan all metal spinning reel for less than 60 dollars that is extremely smooth, casts well, and has 5 carbon fibers washers that provide an amazing 44 pounds of drag.
