Remote Wilderness Hot Springs, Only Accessible from the Ocean. Destination Adventure
Hot Springs and waterfalls, two of the greatest natural things top enjoy outdoors. I had some great plans for this weeks adventure, but unfortunately those plans had to change, and I sure am happy they did. I have never had the chance to explore the Douglas Channel before, or even the areas around Kitimat, and a whole new door has opened for adventures. This area is so full of beauty and life, and the locals are the icing on the cake.
I knew of that beauty camp spot on the Kitimat River from my first ever trip north with the MoHo. Can you believe I even took that big rig down into there? This season, with the new rig it was obviously no problem at all, and we even got to take the rig right down onto the beach. Right away we were greeted by a couple of the full time residents staying at the camp spot, and meeting Don, I knew I wanted to sit down for a chat. We shared fishing stories and travel stories over a couple of drinks, and he was kind enough to share some local leads too.
There are several Hot Springs on the Douglas Channel, but the only one to safely access with a boat my size in a day is Weewanie. The locals have done an amazing job constructing the pools and the building at this spring, and it is far enough from civilization that you will likely be the only one soaking. If you do get the opportunity to head down the channel for some hot springin, I definitely recommend a stop at Jesse Falls. Waterfalls into the ocean, though beautiful, are really not uncommon, but Jesse Falls are very unique. There is no river flowing from Jesse Lake, it is a straight shot from the end of the lake right down into the Pacific Ocean. From the boat it is difficult to see, but with a drone you get a glorious view of the lake, and the drop off into the ocean.
Hot Springs, Waterfalls and good company aside, how about some good meals too! We spent the past couple of weeks pulling up empty traps, it was so nice to finally see some colour coming up. We had two successful days out there, and enjoyed some incredible fresh seafood feasts. Another great adventure for the books.

Thanks for the ride, beautiful nature❤🎉😊
Hello Dustin.
Loved the upload. Kincolith is my neck of the woods and it makes me sad to hear about your pots. That kind of stuff happens here way too often unfortunately. Locals deal with the same issues every year. Wish I got to meet you while you were here and hope you decide to visit the Nass again one day.
You should check out Shearwater Hot Springs south of Weewanie in Europa Bay on Gardner Canal.
First time viewer from Bangor, Northern Ireland, amazing videos, keep up the amazing work
Got that same finder. The depth finder works works about 30% of the time

Hello Dustin, you should try trout fishing in Jessy lake, My Dad flew a 172 Cessna float plane and we landed in the lake and there where a lot trout……..
I’ll never get over that the lakes in Canada are always over a hundred feet deep sometimes more, and that’s every single one, while every lake I go on herein the states are like at most 65 feet deep.
Good job turning the downs of thievery into a grand adventure to share with us. Well done Crew!
A good ol’ “don’t get stollen” probably would have prevented this rough start.
I love that if there’s something hanging over the water, we’re going under it!😂
I work at the Marina you launched from 🙂 Like any town you will get some residents that are not so nice, but for the most part Kitimat is a very friendly place to live and we pull together when anyone needs it. Note: if you come in Sept/Oct there are a whole lot of Humpback’s you will see right up to the marina.
That really bugs me that someone would steal your gear.
That is beautiful, bud.
Finally able to catch up on your last few videos. What beautiful waterfalls nestled into that amazing view as well. Humour top notch as always!
You remind me so much of Will Forte 😂😂
I’m sure glad I watched this video. I was just about to put a downpayment down on a new Thor. I guess I’ll keep shopping.
How are those squat lobsters?
Darn sorry I missed you. You went right by me on your boat I live in Kitamaat village. There are some huge trout in Jessie lake. There also are several hot springs on the trip into Kemano that is definitely a trip you should consider it’s the most beautiful and spiritual place I have ever been.
