Also, if its a water resistant dryloft sleeping bag, the air will squeeze out easier if you stuff it inside out. Air doesn’t pass through water resistant fabrics easy either, so turning inside out helps with this

  2. @MrManueleh on January 23, 2025 at 9:33 pm

Tom Baker’s Dr. Who back pack.

  3. @gaaneshmujumdar on January 23, 2025 at 9:37 pm

Turn on the AC of the car to prevent fogging the glass, you can turn on the temple to heat if you feel cold though. The three arrows up sign on the AC vent is for blowing air on the windscreen to defog it.

The last tip is basically to make a wet bag out of your dry bag! :-D

  5. @stevek4449 on January 23, 2025 at 9:37 pm

As I am getting interested in moto camping I am seeing how the gear is very similar between the two methods, except the bikes can act as a two wheeled pack mule😂. Cool tarp tip. Thanks.

  6. @SabahCampingHub-Malaysia on January 23, 2025 at 9:38 pm

    great tips! thanks!

  7. @harryhthenorwegian476 on January 23, 2025 at 9:38 pm

All well and good, but you’re forgetting one essential thing; How the hell does a normal person manage to carry all this weight you suggest? Hey man, life is real and not everyone is an athlete……

  8. @yungsmile7546 on January 23, 2025 at 9:40 pm

What idiot steps on their tarp? Oh, you. By the way virtually all experienced trail tramps don’t use a stuff sack for their sleeping bag, rather they stuff it as the first thing into the bottom of their backpack. You might consider joining a cult of personality like MAGA, because you’re lack of knowledge is showing.😮

  9. @jimbrown8313 on January 23, 2025 at 9:40 pm

On those rare occasions I make a fire while backpacking I use a stuff sack, fill it and wet the fire. It’s dry by morning. At least put West.

  10. @normhagen1913 on January 23, 2025 at 9:43 pm

Who the f— ever packs their sleeping bag they he shows in the first part? Answer is no one…ever…

  11. @dsmith9572 on January 23, 2025 at 9:43 pm

I do accordion fold so moisture is not trapped in tarp.

  12. @hasandoganmeric2042 on January 23, 2025 at 9:44 pm

Or just fold it twice to get to the same point.

  13. @jimbrown8313 on January 23, 2025 at 9:45 pm

Re cords, check out Lawson. Cottage industry. Amazingly innovative stuff.

  14. @JohnnyAllan-vj7sj on January 23, 2025 at 9:46 pm

More great tips from Buke Criner. Thanks Buke!

  15. @YoMomma781 on January 23, 2025 at 9:47 pm

Brooooooooo that first one folding the tarp was worth the trip. Thank you for sharing

  16. @dirtmasta2960 on January 23, 2025 at 9:47 pm

    Kit bags=waste of money

You are already separating items to pack your bag in zip locks means you don’t need kit bags you just use your freezer bags.

  17. @mikekristin7201 on January 23, 2025 at 9:48 pm

Pro tip. You can make any white light flashlight or headlamps with a 2 dollar piece of auto taillight repair tape. I get mine at O’Reilly’s

  18. @dwaynestewart6095 on January 23, 2025 at 9:48 pm

ya know, I hate the term newb. how about beginner. there is no such thing as a pro backpacker, just experienced. pro is a term used by some schmuck that wants others to think he is special like that clown with initials D. B.

  19. @josephacker5716 on January 23, 2025 at 9:49 pm

Small sewing kit or first aid I think would be great. I like the fire starter stick and striker with waterproof matches if my cigarette lighter doesn’t work (I don’t smoke)

  20. @justa.american8303 on January 23, 2025 at 9:52 pm

Good tips, as usual. I’ve use the tarp fold tip, but for towels. I never thought of it for tarps…DOH!

  21. @echetlos on January 23, 2025 at 9:52 pm

I dont think this man ever camps…or to put it more correct, he probably always camps 20 feet away from his vehicle.

  22. @danielmckillop2523 on January 23, 2025 at 9:53 pm

What brand of kit bags are you using?

  23. @floydoharejr4477 on January 23, 2025 at 9:53 pm

Pro tip: If your windows fog up on the inside turn on the A/C. Even if it is cold out it will quickly dry out the windows! Yes it’s okay to use the heat and A/C at the same time.

  24. @leesaxton on January 23, 2025 at 9:57 pm

It’s called a stuffsac for a reason. Stuff it in. No wearlines on your equipment.

  25. @alexanderamos4185 on January 23, 2025 at 9:58 pm

Avoiding air pockets is the least of my concern while backpacking. Thumbs down because your first two pieces of advice for dog crap… has anyone said “ I love camping, but I hate folding the tarp and I hate stuffing the sleeping bag, it’s ruined so many camping trips having to do those things”

  26. @crabbee88 on January 23, 2025 at 10:03 pm

bring a mini kerosene lamp they will give you light for days

  27. @inyobill on January 23, 2025 at 10:07 pm

    Props for proper spelling "Newb"

  28. @winstonsmiths2449 on January 23, 2025 at 10:08 pm

4:30, I like a lot of pockets. YES, I often have to hunt for items because my memory sucks, but I do stuff each one by functionality and I do use bags for organizing and protection from rain.

  29. @심플라이프-c6i on January 23, 2025 at 10:08 pm

    와우 대~~~~박!!! Genius!!

  30. @pullmeifinger on January 23, 2025 at 10:10 pm

Ooooo a video teaching people how to fold

  31. @mendyviola on January 23, 2025 at 10:10 pm

Ok, the tarp trick is a new one for me. ❤. My trick is to have a ridge line already rigged up with loops and tie-outs ready to setup quickly.

  32. @RooSook on January 23, 2025 at 10:14 pm

All the tips are very helpful, thank you for making a detailed instruction video. However, the first thing is that you should not step on the tarp, you can completely hold the edges of the tarp and hold them together.
You don’t want to step on your tarp when the ground is still wet or dirty, so try to limit the contact of your tarp with dirt and mud.

  33. @webtron44 on January 23, 2025 at 10:15 pm

Wow! All of these are going to help my family a ton on future trips. The tarp trip looked like magic – will try that today. I never knew the deal about red light & bugs. I’m excited to try that. Will use these to impress my Boy Scout son

  34. @kwcactus on January 23, 2025 at 10:15 pm

Great stuff Luke…Thanks from northern MN…the mosquitoes are the size of small dogs this spring

  35. @inyobill on January 23, 2025 at 10:16 pm

02:10: THat is just beyond slick. My trail days are over, so I won’t get the chance to try that. sigh. 04:05: All those pockets add material to the pack, increasing weight. Mind the ounces, the pounds will take care of themselves. Happy trails, mate.

  36. @stigc.minkstuen on January 23, 2025 at 10:16 pm

Why are you americans allways sound like loud self bragging bull frogs??? Great video though 😀

  37. @ernststravoblofeld on January 23, 2025 at 10:20 pm

If your gear is soaking wet, so are you. Stuff a change of clothes into that dry bag you keep in the car. Especially socks.

  38. @IronSharpensIron127 on January 23, 2025 at 10:21 pm

I tried the dry bag tip for all my well soiled items……
I got arrested for indecent exposure on the side of the road.

  39. @michellereed5638 on January 23, 2025 at 10:23 pm

    Hey thanks, Luke, Awesome!

  40. @kengarrett8657 on January 23, 2025 at 10:24 pm

Great information. Keep it coming thanks for all you do.

  41. @johnswanson3741 on January 23, 2025 at 10:26 pm

I always keep a fresh change of street clothes in a folded up sack for when I come back to my vehicle to change into for the trip home. And I like to wear comfort slippers while on long drives and my wallet in the front pocket!

  42. @icatjam on January 23, 2025 at 10:26 pm

Similar to me folding bed sheets. Like it.

  43. @kristofferholst6053 on January 23, 2025 at 10:27 pm

Crap one corner and grab the other corner – dude those are the sidses you are grabbing 😂

  44. @cruisey9857 on January 23, 2025 at 10:28 pm

Every one of these tips was new to me. As someone who has never camped but is educating myself to get ready for my first experience very soon, hopefully. Kinda nervous I’m going to forget something or buy the wrong gear.

  45. @aranha9365 on January 23, 2025 at 10:29 pm

You shouldn’t step on the tarp, you still can do the same as you wish just sliding your feet underneath. I personally just hold the corners together and stuff in a dry bag, I don’t think folding is good for the longevity of the tarp. I like to tie bungee loops on all tabs too.

  46. @nicholaswilburn4418 on January 23, 2025 at 10:29 pm

2 minutes of this video is just a logo being displayed

  47. @MidnightMaker on January 23, 2025 at 10:31 pm

Pro Tip: Red light also doesn’t affect your night vision.

  48. @BundaZehart on January 23, 2025 at 10:32 pm

Very usefull tips, You are the Tarp magician!

  49. @TennesseeSlim on January 23, 2025 at 10:32 pm

You cant attach hot plastic to a rainfly it would just melt the rainfly. I’d like to see how that’s done.
