Juicy Honey Holes: Fly Fishing Bow River [Calgary, Alberta]

Couple buddies joined me to hike in 8km to a secluded honey hole on the Bow River (Calgary, Alberta). It was a very bright day but we managed to get into more than 10 decent fish. There were hundreds of midges on the water but with the bright sun, the fish were deeper. We did find a couple in the faster water around riffles. Caught fish on: San Juan, Copper Johns & small leeches. Set-Up: 9′ 6wt, WF Floating Line & 3x leader.

I recommend stopping at Bow River Troutfitters or Fish Tales Fly Shop before hitting the bow. Brought the drone and a couple cameras to film the day. Enjoy!

    Any chance related to my Dad’s fish in buddy DALLAS? Any who…. we scattered my father today at policeman’s. Dad loved this river up and down. A bit upstream from the parking lot. Beautiful day today at the flats. Thank you for sharing this one. Tight lines fellaz.

    With the drone footage people can figure out exactly where you were. I recognised it in the first 5seconds of your video . You boys aren’t very smart are you?
