Is a hammock tent worth it? Haven Tent review #campinggear

Pros vs cons of hammock camping ⤵️

I have the Heven tent with the ultralight rainfly. Opinions are my own. Not spon.

PROS
• Lays flat and comes with an extra wide insulated sleeping pad (4 R value)
• Great for side sleepers and I assume anyone with knee or back pain who can’t crawl into a tent
• It’s relatively affordable for a sleep system at $315 USD (tent+pad)
• Rain tarp is highly adjustable and can close from inside the hammock if the weather takes a turn
• If there’s no trees around you can pitch it on the ground as a Bivy using trekking poles or sticks

CONSiderations
• Can’t fit large dogs (sorry Kyro)
• It is 6 lbs 8oz (which is a pound or 2 heavier than my backpacking sleep system setup
• You can keep your bag inside but it was more comfortable outside under the tarp
•Works best with included mattress, the Nemo insulated tensor sleeping pad I have didn’t work because the sides caved in
• Make sure your head side is hung higher than the feet side and your butt is in the middle so your not slanted downwards

As one of us rare I guess stomach sleepers I couldn’t imagine a hammock ever being an option for me. I feel like any droop in the floor would be the death of my back.

I have a much much much cheaper one that is also much smaller. I think the pad is unnecessary since your not on the ground so it saves tons of room. Mine is just a basic sleeping bag with a mosquito net and a tarp i tie to the trees and stake on the ground. I took it on a 2 night 20 mile backpacking trip and it was great. I definitely recomend but there are much more affordable and compact options

  26. @irish....2197 on December 10, 2024 at 8:08 pm

I use a hammock tent more than any other but as far as winter goes…. That cold air wraps it……
Winter I do some tent with extra tarp for windshield and low to ground

    Follow for that ass

  31. @robertryan627 on December 10, 2024 at 8:10 pm

For all the complaining about price, remember it’s a tent, hammock, bug net, and a sleeping blow up pad. It’s also much better for side sleepers and weary bones.

  32. @KenzLovesMovies on December 10, 2024 at 8:12 pm

If $300+ is steep for you, you can also get a hammock and underquilt and just learn how to lay diagonal (will help you lay flat in the thing). My whole set up cost under $150

  33. @sxckpyr24 on December 10, 2024 at 8:14 pm

  36. @canadianforbiden7160 on December 10, 2024 at 8:19 pm

Never disrupt nature with a dog camping, dogs are not natural they were created by humans

  37. @ronrico2620 on December 10, 2024 at 8:20 pm

I make hammocks. I posted a response on the guy that makes this, now for some reason the algorithm is recommending this vid. Im guessing you 2 are working together to sell this overpriced crap. Bridge hammocks are dumb. This is an extra poor example of one. Is that zipper load bearing? How long you think that will last? Does it come with the sleeping pad? It should because it will come in handy when this thing breaks in the woods, well I guess this a gimmick car camping nonsense and no real hiker or backpacker would use this

  38. @patriciakwast2817 on December 10, 2024 at 8:20 pm

Your dog can’t be in it why have it

  39. @charanjitmann1663 on December 10, 2024 at 8:20 pm

  40. @loricutshall31 on December 10, 2024 at 8:21 pm

    315??

  42. @RaccoonWithaKnife on December 10, 2024 at 8:26 pm

$315 for an almost 7lb hammock is absolutely goofy

  43. @diewaschmaschine1718 on December 10, 2024 at 8:26 pm

    Looks heavy

  44. @jipvanleyenhorst4834 on December 10, 2024 at 8:27 pm

Hang your bag on a tree girl

  45. @ayrtontv6025 on December 10, 2024 at 8:28 pm

Bro hammocks are like $40 what is this 😂😂

  46. @chadjs74 on December 10, 2024 at 8:29 pm

You will freeze camping with that in the winter

  47. @eringallagher6408 on December 10, 2024 at 8:31 pm

You can get cheaper hammocks, but you’ll also need to get the overhead tarp, and I’d recommend a underquilt for warmth. The extras are what get pricey.

  48. @MsGeeyounit on December 10, 2024 at 8:31 pm

How do you sleep on your side with it dipping down in the middle?!?

  49. @avaeggington4796 on December 10, 2024 at 8:31 pm

The term "bear burrito" comes to mind.
