Part One of a video series that I am doing in conjunction with other instructors for an outdoor youth program. This series is aimed at people new to backpacking and covers topics suitable for a beginner. The series is a grassroots effort and similar to what you find done at a community center, library, or outdoor group gathering. Sorry, no drone coverage. 😉

For part one, we’ll cover the differences between car camping gear and backpacking gear as well as going over how to outfit yourself on a budget using items from discount stores, your existing camping gear, or even everyday household items.
