1. Alum Cave Bluffs Trail…difficult, 11 miles
2. Laurel Falls Trail, closed
3. Chimney Tops Trail, steep and top is closed
4. Grotto Falls, walk behind the falls
5. Andrew’s Bald Trail, starts at Clingman’s dome parking lot
6. Porter’s Creek Trail
Thank you very much.
The summit of Chimney Tops has been closed since 2016, and might not ever open back up. The strenuous hike just isn’t worth the outcome now. Plus, Laurel Falls is closed in 2025 and into early 2026 for trail maintenance.
I’ve spent the last few days doing research on hiking trails in the Smokies, and this is the best resource I’ve found so far…great information! Thanks so much for this great video!
awesome!
Just came across this video and loved it. Alum Cave is one of my favorite hikes. Great channel. Subscribed.
Thank you so much.
Very nice!
A fun variation on the LaConte via Alum Cave ( with two cars or someone to pick you up) is to start at Newfound Gap. Hike the AT to Boulevard Trail and take that way down past LaConte and Alum Cave.
