Fortland offers unique Island camping experience in Casco Bay
Nestled in Casco Bay, House Island offers what some call a unique “glamping” experience at Fortland, a 16-acre campground and event venue.
Located on the grounds of historic Fort Scammel, Fortland is just a 10-minute boat ride from downtown Portland.
The site features seven beautifully furnished camping sites, including three yurts and four tent cabins. Visitors can also enjoy an outdoor cooking area and a 40-foot diameter event tent.
The venue boasts 40,000 square feet of historic Civil War-era architecture and offers panoramic views of Portland Harbor.
Fortland is open seasonally for camping and event rentals, such as weddings, retreats, and reunions, from June through early October.

There’s going to be a lot fewer tourists around thanks to that moron 🍊🤡🍕💩
This looks nice. Great spot. Though personally, I’d not swim around Casco Bay. The massive harbor seal colony attracts a lot of white sharks. We see them quite a lot out around the bay the last handful of years. I’d not even kayak. Not trying to scare anyone or anything, just being a realist and I’d really hate to see another Mainer or a guest to our state be killed by a white shark again. No more of that, please.
