Ep. 72: Grand Teton National Park | Wyoming RV travel camping

Rugged, dramatic spires may well make the Tetons the most visually stunning mountain range in all of North America. Camp for free with us on Shadow Mountain, a.k.a. Upper Teton View with the Tetons as our amazing backdrop, as we visit Grand Teton National Park for some kayaking and hiking, and tour the town of Jackson, Wyoming and Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. On our way across Wyoming we’ll also overnight at the Wind River Hotel & Casino in Riverton, Wyo.

ABOUT US

Welcome to Grand Adventure, a YouTube channel that focuses on RV-centric outdoor activities including not only of course camping, but also mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, skiing and more, nearly always filmed in stunning 4K.

We’re based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you’ll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. Instead, we’re usually camped in some of the most remote and beautiful spots that you could ever pull a travel trailer into. And unlike most other RV channels on YouTube, we’re not RV dealers or full-timers — we’re weekend warriors just like you!

We’ll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember…life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

Marc, you make great videos, better than most of the other YouTube travel channels. I really don’t understand why your viewership isn’t higher. You’ve been at it for awhile now (over a year and 70 videos) so hopefully folks will catch on soon to your channel. You deserve more views than you do get for all of the work you put into them. Thanks.

Oh, the Tetons! We are so insanely jealous, and strive for the day we can follow in your footsteps. We’ll have a lot farther to tow our trailer to get there, though! Wonderful video!

    Wow! Amazing video, thanks

  4. Starbreaker666 on September 16, 2019 at 7:42 pm

Nice vid once again, Marc. We’re lucky enough to have a daughter living in Lander so we have an easy excuse to visit the area.

Question. For all this rural boondocking does these seem possible in a class A? As in the roads, etc. Also, are UTV common for exploring the roads and getting around? Thank you.

What time of the year did you do this trip?

  9. Dian Swanson on September 16, 2019 at 7:51 pm

Nice! I love the Teton/Jackson area, just a beautiful place. I see your next video is from Lava, just 30 minutes from me.

Thank you Marc for another great film. Lake Jenny looked beautiful, are you allowed to swim in it or is it a water source? Don’t blame you for preferring to Boon Dock, when you can stay in such wonderful places. Phil and Juliet πŸ˜€

  11. Lauren G on September 16, 2019 at 7:54 pm

Spots? What spots? Who’d notice a few silly little spots w/all that great scenery! πŸ™‚

  12. Bruce H on September 16, 2019 at 7:54 pm

What beautiful country.Β  Your campsite outside of Jackson was made to order.Β  It must have been difficult to decide what footage to include in the video with all of that spectacular scenery.Β

Don’t be too upset about the small pieces of dirt on the sensor.Β  It is not something I paid any attention.Β  Hopefully that is something you were able to clean off yourself once you noticed it.Β

Be happy you are now down in the warm desert country.Β  It is supposed to get down to 9 F in Jackson tonight.

Last fall I have spent time camping in Utah, Wyoming, and Colorado. I have seen the places you have videoed. You have really captured the essence of those places. It really makes me yearn to go back. Thanks for the time you put into making these videos. I just found your channel and have subscribed.

I am planning a trip to Moose, Jenny Lake and the Grand Tetons in 2020. I am glad I found your excellent video.

  15. Steve Lindquist on September 16, 2019 at 8:00 pm

Marc, thanks for the great videos ,you have by far the best boon-docking location. Someday I hope be exploring like you.

Oops almost lost my grand adventure stripes by missing one , is it me or did every leave America ? Really like Teton mountains more so love the fact of total isolation so much open space! And a evening sky not to be missed thanks Marc G&Z

Have you ever been to Bannia national park in canada

  18. lori hart on September 16, 2019 at 8:04 pm

Beautiful footage. No worries about the spots. Barely noticed

  19. Zanobia Shalks on September 16, 2019 at 8:05 pm

Well, you can see why that’s a national park. Your video depicted it so well, you do have an artistic touch. I camped and painted there several years ago and had a great site in one of the campgrounds. It was a leveling challenge but had great views. I love your boondocking site, more to my liking also, and so is the kayaking. ML, Zanobia Shalks

    Bamff National Park?

  24. jose orozco on September 16, 2019 at 8:14 pm

I’m a new subscriber of your channel. By the way I find it very informative, I have a question for you: how do you find those places to camp, they are very nice?

  25. Wheels on September 16, 2019 at 8:14 pm

Mark, we love your videos. But would you PLEASE do something about your sound levels with your music? It’s so much louder than your vocals. Much, much louder. This is a problem with your mixing. Your channel is the only one that this happens with, so it’s not us. Thanks!

  26. David Landreth on September 16, 2019 at 8:14 pm

Great video! By the way, if you’re back in the Tetons later, try paddling Leigh Lake, going in from String Lake. You’ll have to portage over the little neck of land between String and Leigh, but once on Leigh, it’s paddle craft only and much wilder. There is a terrific campsite right beneath Mt. Moran at the far western end of the lake. Definitely one of the best paddle lakes in the Tetons.

  27. Christina McMillan on September 16, 2019 at 8:16 pm

I’ve always wanted to go to Jackson. I can’t imagine getting to see all of this! Stunning. You put together amazing footage!

  28. cindy haddock on September 16, 2019 at 8:17 pm

Wonderful video! Such beauty on this earth! What kind of jacket/sweater is that? Looks warm and comfy! Happy trails!

  29. ben lewin on September 16, 2019 at 8:17 pm

Hello there. First of all, thank you for all the detailed information you put into each video. After watching your videos a couple of months back I decided to plan a trip out west and check out Wyoming and Montana. So I rented an RV out of SLC and in a couple of weeks we are checking out Yellowstone, Glacier National Park, and we are finishing our trip off with Grand Teton National Park. I wanted to know if you had any recommendations or something that I should absolutely check out and make part of our trip? We reserved a campsite in Yellowstone and Glacier NP, and we were planning on dispersed camping the rest of the time. Most of the time when I go on vacation we just wing it and live in the moment. I don’t want to overwhelm our trip, but if there is something that is a must do(or see) I’d love to add it to our "itinerary". Thanks again

  30. Joseph Flaherty on September 16, 2019 at 8:20 pm

Loving the drone footage. Keep it up! (Pun intended).

  31. Steven Pelayo on September 16, 2019 at 8:22 pm

We are planning a similar trip and will have our black lab with us. How did you manage the dogs while you were hiking and kayaking in the park? Was it cool enough just to leave them in the trailer?

  32. Traveling Robert on September 16, 2019 at 8:27 pm

Taking notes for my upcoming trip next year. You do have the best video quality (there’s nothing like 4K)

  33. jennifer davison on September 16, 2019 at 8:27 pm

what are the coordinates for Shadow mountain boon docking?

  34. blake couch on September 16, 2019 at 8:30 pm

I’m 5 days late. I missed the notification. Some of my favorite teton things….The Gunbarrel steakhouse in Jackson, pow laps off of the sublette chair, and apres at the mangy moose. Man, I love Jackson, the Tetons, and Yellowstone. Great video, Marc.

  35. Frankie Moore on September 16, 2019 at 8:30 pm

Quick question we are going to be staying the entire month of June 20/20 can shadow mountain have a spot for a 36ft travel Trailer and is it easy to get in and out of?

  36. Craig Cardwell on September 16, 2019 at 8:31 pm

We are at the Wind River casino in Riverton, CO, and just like you said they have electric hooks ups for $25.75 per night. The box has a 30 amp plug that allows us to use the air conditioner which is really nice in the warm weather. Thanks again for the tip!

  37. Lauren G on September 16, 2019 at 8:31 pm

Question for you – planning our trip to Grand Teton this summer, and hoping to camp either in the Shadow Mountain area where you were or up on FR 30310 (Upper Teton View). Wondering how the roads were and if you scouted out any further up the hill. Am guessing it can be pretty busy at times, and wondering how far up the road we might want to venture before giving up & camping with the masses. πŸ˜‰

  38. Leila BL on September 16, 2019 at 8:33 pm

Great job πŸ‘πŸ’ͺ.. I am a new subscriber and I love your videos.
Thank you so much for sharing. Tetons is beautiful. I want to come back next summer. 😊

  40. Randi's Adventures on September 16, 2019 at 8:33 pm

Hey Marc! Isn’t America so beautiful? We too are weekend RV adventurers and love exploring the outdoors… one weekend at at time.

  41. Vagabond_Rob on September 16, 2019 at 8:34 pm

Hey Marc, great video. I’ve not been to the Tetons nor Jackson, despite having family there. Soon, now that I’ve seen your vid. Hey, I see you’re down south here in Az. Trading sun for snow?

  42. Diane Stevenson on September 16, 2019 at 8:38 pm

So glad I found your video’s, you do a great job showing the area, your sites and other campgrounds. They are very informative and beautiful. You have a good eye.
