Thank you for this video. I bought two bait casters and was about to give up. This gives me hope.

  8. @IsaacFNghost on February 22, 2025 at 11:29 pm

I’ve seen a lot of these fishing YouTubers fishing with bait casters and they do this off downward backhand thing and still land the bait right up under docks or right by brush piles and i have no idea what they’re doing

  9. @richc4388 on February 22, 2025 at 11:30 pm

So glad I found this video. Without question the best instructional I’ve ever seen.

  10. @joearcara5965 on February 22, 2025 at 11:30 pm

I have used a baitcaster for over 30 years, and you have made me 100 percent better. Great instruction.

this help me sooo much! i just baught and learned how to use the baitcaster in a day but im working on my accuracy cause when i cast it always goes to my left (because im right handed). 12. @TassandPipesthePoodle on February 22, 2025 at 11:34 pm

Your video was like a tornado siren suddenly going off in my head. I, while a somewhat proficient angler, have been casting in all the wrong ways.
Kudos to you. You are ALWAYS my first go to when studying how to be the best angler possible.

  14. @ChrisAnderson-ze3tz on February 22, 2025 at 11:36 pm

Wait, I’m not suppose to cast like I’m swinging a baseball bat? 😂

  15. @1965JB on February 22, 2025 at 11:38 pm

I’m gonna go to the lake and practice casting; maybe I’ll even catch a fish!

  17. @jeffmaxwell9648 on February 22, 2025 at 11:38 pm

Thanks for the video I’m still trying to figure out my baitcaster lol I’m awesome at getting out a nest, but I saw when the student was trying to drop that bait with no splash he wasn’t keeping his elbow in and I have the same problem along with many others using that reek but I’ll be trying these tips out… I’ll also have my spinning rig ready

  18. @vtxdaryl on February 22, 2025 at 11:39 pm

Now I know why a friend that catches lots of bass, cast just like you are teaching. Must be a secret among the pros that you are teaching. I cast overhead, miss the target and make lots of noise. Thanks for a great explanation of casting.

  19. @petercarroll5971 on February 22, 2025 at 11:40 pm

why do you both go back to open elbow at end of video ?

  20. @chrishightower77 on February 22, 2025 at 11:42 pm

    That’s cool tips!!!

  21. @Nate_Higgins on February 22, 2025 at 11:43 pm

It’s kinda wild seeing a spot I like to fish on these educational videos. It’s cool to know o share the waters with high level people like yourself. Hope to see you out there sometime.

  22. @IsaacFNghost on February 22, 2025 at 11:46 pm

My accuracy is dog water right now. I feel like I have to put all my focus into just not getting backlash. Anytime I try anything fancy is end up with some backlash. I’ve tried setting the break high and the spool speed as low as it goes but then I get no distance so

  23. @RingWorm324 on February 22, 2025 at 11:47 pm

I can’t skip on purpose and this kid skips on accident. You sure he’s not already a pro?

I notice you cast and then change hands to reel, some do and some don’t. Do you have a video explaining this and what are your thoughts on a lefty casting with right hand and reeling with left. I’m 55 and have always done it this way and feel comfortable. Would I gain anything by switching.

    Great video, thank you.

  24. @LazaroOb on February 22, 2025 at 11:48 pm

I can cast jus not far if I cast far I get a birdnest

  25. @thejohnleos on February 22, 2025 at 11:48 pm

2130 at night and I wanna try this so bad…I always kind swing like a baseball bat and it goes where it goes lmao

  26. @Toadhunt1322 on February 22, 2025 at 11:49 pm

Reading the comments below and I see I am not alone, this is the best casting tutorial, hands down, that I’ve seen anywhere. I Watched this video for the first time 3 years ago when I was first learning how to cast a baitcaster and it really helped me then. Coming back to it now as I am trying to improve and refine my casting skills and it was massively helpful. Greatly appreciate your gift as a teacher, thank you!

  27. @TheBornaskorn on February 22, 2025 at 11:50 pm

Прекрасный инструктор! Уважение и привет из России , Москва

  28. @ИгорЖивановић on February 22, 2025 at 11:50 pm

great video! can you do a video on how to cast the RAPALA RIPSTOP far with the casting rod ?

  29. @robertveith2571 on February 22, 2025 at 11:51 pm

It’s easy to roll with shorter rod I went a 7ft 1in rod made it harder

  30. @Bug_Man_Semo on February 22, 2025 at 11:52 pm

That arm tuck helped me so much. Helped to make sure my thumb was in perfect position and there was no flailing. Not a single birds nest in an hour after watching this. Thank you

  31. @kennywd4049 on February 22, 2025 at 11:53 pm

Good video but why are you using right hand reel’s?

  32. @jamesatkins1890 on February 22, 2025 at 11:53 pm

By far most informative baitcaster, casting video i have ever watched and ive been using baitcasters for over a year now and learnt 4 new tips 😂 today tip 5 just came to me in the beginning…

  33. @JoseAntonio-pb7nd on February 22, 2025 at 11:59 pm

Outstanding video, thank you so much!

  34. @clownassscamada on February 22, 2025 at 11:59 pm

9.43 he forgot to keep his elbow in tight .good vid i will remember to keep my elbow in now ps i will never forget that now .everything is good thanx.

  35. @FloridaMarlinWrangler on February 23, 2025 at 12:00 am

I used to use that hammer technique and always went to the left. Once I started using the roll cast my accuracy increased and my chances of an overrun decreased

  36. @michaelloucks4448 on February 23, 2025 at 12:02 am

Hey Johnny your awesome bro that was a nice thing to do with a young man teach him how to cast properly. GOD bless you and your family your pal fisherman Mike. Ps you taught me how to cast I will start practicing these techniques you showed him and us thanks again Johnny your an awesome person bro.

  37. @Jason-iz6ob on February 23, 2025 at 12:03 am

Sometimes I prefer a natural presentation. I’ll cast up into the trees and then let it drop into the water. Or fling it way up into the rocks on the bank and pull it into the water. It’s totally on purpose.

  38. @SteveoKnievo100 on February 23, 2025 at 12:04 am

    Great video

  39. @robertveith2571 on February 23, 2025 at 12:06 am

I had to change the way I cast went to long rod things change !!!!!

  40. @daltonwade7908 on February 23, 2025 at 12:06 am

Getting his elbow tucked will change everything for him, he will figure the other techniques out after.

  41. @nahf4m on February 23, 2025 at 12:06 am

    Wow, thank you so much!

  43. @agrimes4338 on February 23, 2025 at 12:08 am

This has been the best tutorial on casting a bait caster that I have ever seen

  44. @fishingwithlee9519 on February 23, 2025 at 12:09 am

04:14 is the cameraman eating? 😅

  45. @bloodshot420gaming6 on February 23, 2025 at 12:09 am

So I just got my first baitcaster a few days ago, after always using spincasters, and watched all kinds of videos about how to use it. None of them actually explained the side arm cast in detail like you did. I think this video will have a drastic effect on my casting with it now. No one ever explained about the "looping" of the bait to cast. I was doing exactly what you said, stopping and then casting. It all clicked with this video. I can’t wait to get back out fishing with it now.

  46. @austinglasscock4881 on February 23, 2025 at 12:10 am

The way dude was skipping that lure, aint no way hes a "beginner"😂 more like a seasoned angler playing the part of a beginner
