  8. @ReaperTheRager on December 12, 2024 at 7:38 pm

Coasties get the job done, rain or shine. My grandpa ran a supply boat ashore during Korea. My uncle tried to follow suit but punched out his CO in basic because the CO insulted my grandma lol.

  9. @samuelpotters on December 12, 2024 at 7:41 pm

So basically the Coast Guard but with a bunch of nerds?

  10. @devingraves8044 on December 12, 2024 at 7:43 pm

I have a friend who flies for them. Pretty cool job! Eventually he will be flying hurricane hunters

  11. @TupDigital on December 12, 2024 at 7:44 pm

  12. @Three_Random_Words on December 12, 2024 at 7:46 pm

They did their job back in the day, now it’s time to shutdown something that is obsolete.

  13. @michael.jolson7982 on December 12, 2024 at 7:48 pm

And still nothing for oldest armed forces the minute men or in other words the National Guard
The National Guard are first ones on battle ground and last too leave

  14. @Markpitt2010 on December 12, 2024 at 7:49 pm

    The off brand coast guard?

  15. @generalinbox3740 on December 12, 2024 at 7:50 pm

    Lol space force… Gay force

  16. @uncletiggermclaren7592 on December 12, 2024 at 7:51 pm

They had a long coast to do it to.

Of course, the Royal Navy had already surveyed all of the main ports and waterways, that is why so many of the small Islands, ports and waterways have English names on their headlands and "roads" , the Royal Navy made charts and named them.

I know of one on Dans rock just west of Frostburg MD!

  18. @duanelynch3730 on December 12, 2024 at 7:55 pm

The Coast Guard gets in more fire fights currently than any other service. Cartels! πŸ”₯πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

  19. @3xfaster on December 12, 2024 at 7:56 pm

Ugh, what is even the space force when we already had US Space Command?

  20. @MrGelly70 on December 12, 2024 at 7:59 pm

lol the coast guard is NOT a branch of the military.
Why people keep saying it is a branch of the military lol

  21. @magi2 on December 12, 2024 at 8:00 pm

Don’t forget they although they are no longer around during WWII we had the Amphibious Marines (anyone who was one had their choice during a time of leave could wear a Marine or Navy uniform) and during Vietnam we had the Green Berets

  22. @leggonarm9835 on December 12, 2024 at 8:00 pm

If they’re on their own soil, can they legally be captured and executed as spys?

  23. @shawnr771 on December 12, 2024 at 8:00 pm

    Thank you for the lesson.

To be fair most people have no idea how many vital military functions are performed by civilian agencies.

  24. @denjhill on December 12, 2024 at 8:00 pm

The biggest grift in US government. There is not a single job that cannot be done by a civilian or a contractor. I worked for them for 30+ years and the abuse of the federal system is nauseating. Their time has expired and the NOAA Corps should be abolished.

  25. @GraysonG-ce6vy on December 12, 2024 at 8:01 pm

I want one of those maps on my wall!

  26. @exposingproxystalkingorgan4164 on December 12, 2024 at 8:01 pm

  28. @okd521 on December 12, 2024 at 8:04 pm

So I guess he’s talking about the US Coast guard, even though he never actually said those words.

  29. @johnsmith-jk9ol on December 12, 2024 at 8:06 pm

Technically the marines are actually part of the Navy

  30. @scottcole6982 on December 12, 2024 at 8:07 pm

    Wow no clue

  31. @jackmessick2869 on December 12, 2024 at 8:07 pm

Thanks for highlighting our smallest uniformed corps, now called the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration Corps. As a civilian member of NOAA, thank you.

  32. @CCoburn3 on December 12, 2024 at 8:07 pm

Actually, they were the second "scientific" organization in the US government. The Patent Office was first.

  33. @mykec.selene8302 on December 12, 2024 at 8:09 pm

Are you bragging or complaining??? Americans are so arrogant!!!

  34. @notabryan3937 on December 12, 2024 at 8:13 pm

  39. @ThePaperKhan on December 12, 2024 at 8:21 pm

USA: We need to cut spending and shut down necessary-but-not-as-necessary government departments so we can give ourselves a bigger paycheck

Also USA: Let’s create expensive Astronauts with guns

  40. @jimb.942 on December 12, 2024 at 8:23 pm

My dad was in the US geodetic survey after the Korean war. He shipped out everywhere, including Hawaii and Alaska and South Pacific Islands

  41. @ARMY-ep6fz on December 12, 2024 at 8:26 pm

Go Army πŸͺ–!!! Thank you coast guard personnel for your service.

  42. @gordontaras on December 12, 2024 at 8:29 pm

    is that still active?

  43. @KnuckleDragginDad on December 12, 2024 at 8:30 pm

U.S. Armed Services is much much different than the U.S. Uniformed Services. Especially considering you may be captured during wartime!

  44. @tthatggguy on December 12, 2024 at 8:31 pm

I learned of 2 branches today.

  45. @mfumich on December 12, 2024 at 8:32 pm

    USSF is a joke.

  46. @6000Chipmunks on December 12, 2024 at 8:33 pm

It’s interesting to note, when measuring the boundaries of any country; that the smaller the unit of measure used to measure the boundary, the greater the size of the country becomes, until it reaches infinity. πŸ™‚

  47. @BHuang92 on December 12, 2024 at 8:33 pm

Didn’t the United States Survey of the Coast accidentally started a border war up in Michigan by drawing the US border up to Canada and building a fort on Canadian soil?
