My stepdad was a cave rescuer longer than I’ve been alive and I’m 57 he said what got him out of doing rescues was his gut instincts, he said if all the cave rescues he’s done they just seem to get worse and worse because people went further into more dangerous situations and it was time to get out before The rescuer needed to be rescued, I’m all for an adrenaline rush and so many other things the crawling in a cave nah I’m good
This video came out almost 2 years ago and he’s still in there. He started a new family down there and even built his own house. He doesn’t want to come out anymore.
Insane that it took over TWO HUNDRED people to get him out of the cave a week after he went in, imagine the resources and the funds to save this one man just so he can turn around and be like ‘I’ll never stop’ fking ridiculous
cavers piss me off. i had a niece who intentionally always got herself stuck places bc she thought being rescued was fun and thats whats going on here. stop blowing huge amounts of resources on people who enjoy getting themselves stuck places they should not be.
