Traverse City, Michigan is a gem in the midwest with it’s cherry festival and plenty of places to go. This water front city is surrounded by endless miles of lakefront shoreline – this is pure Michigan. Traverse City is a top summer destination for all to enjoy. If you’re planning on visiting TC, be sure to allow ample time during your trip because your schedule will quickly fill up. While everyone knows about the amazing water activities like wakeboarding, water skiing, paddle boarding, and the infamous Torch Lake sand bar; however, Traverse city has great micro breweries, wineries, restaurants, and hiking as well. During our time in TC, we were amazed with how much the city had to offer.

If you’re looking to get outdoors, be sure to make your way to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. This national park is unlike any other with 450 food dunes towering over the majestic lake Michigan. While at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Park, be sure to do the Dune Climb and the Pierce Stocking scenic drive. If you decide to do the Dune Climb, be prepaired for a strenuous 3-4 hour hike that culminates with a dip in cool lake Michigan.

Breweries we visited:
Left foot Charlie Winery
The Filling Station Brewery – loved the pizza
The Workshop brewery – great beer and food
Right Brain Brewery – has an indoor bowling machine

I do the Traverse City Ghost Tours in Traverse City. It’s so easy talking about this beautiful city. Love the buildings, love the history, love the people! I have traveled all over the world, but I keep coming back home!

There was a murder suicide at hotel indigo this year and a homeless man had his throat slit by some kid who bragged about it on Snapchat after dumping his body in Boardman lake. There’s also a huge heroin problem and a ton of human trafficking. I was born and raised there and finally got the Fuck out. Its not at all what it’s made out to be but I’m glad you two were safe and had a good time. As an ex resident, it’s beautiful and great for tourism but there’s a lot of dark stuff to uncover.

Edit: my family raises cows and sells them at the northwestern Michigan fair and my little sisters last calf was bought by mr. moomer. Heโ€™s a cool old man. People think moomers is a big company but in reality itโ€™s just a cool old man who just loves ice cream.

White white white and rainbows is all I saw. Needs a ton more diversification. Felt a little uneasy walking the downtown district with all the american europeans eyeing you . I was like wtf weird experience . Like these american europeans never left this area before and seen real diversity . They need to get out more

  43. Mr Cloudies Best Friend on September 16, 2019 at 8:27 pm

Traverse City gets around 3 million tourists a year, July we get over 1 million alone. So one thing to know when visiting is the festivals are huge. Like, some of the biggest festivals in the midwest. Cherry festival draws in over 600,000 tourists alone, more then 6 times the population of the county! Tourism is both national, and international, we get regular tourists from across southeast asia, the middle east and europe.

Best times to come is the late spring, june for Up North Pride, (Traverse City has a week long pride festival! Little fleet is actually a founding member and hosts many events) Any time in august when the festivals are over, and the fall. And during the festivals if that’s what you’re into, personally i prefer the Film Festival over the Cherry Festival. For a town of about 75,000 there are 200+ restaurants, i’d say around 65+ breweries, destilleries and wineries, 35+ coffee houses. Best places within the city is downtown, the Dennos Museum, the beaches of course, the village and grand traverse commons (a former asylum that has been converted into a beautiful community) There’s also an imax theater by the mall, but our mall is pretty mediocre, it has really been overtaken by the downtown area. For restaurants i always suggest little fleet of course, Firefly, Georginas, Bubbas, The Towne Plaza, The Franklin, Northpeak, Red Ginger, The good Bowl, The Dish, Paesono’s, cooks house, Grand Traverse Pie Co, Mama Lus among many others. And those are just downtown, there are dozens more in the immediate area.

It is honestly an amazing place to visit and live. Just know that traffic can get really intense!

Auto text wouldn’t let me finish my message darpro and DARPA two companies in the Kalamazoo River dumping massive amounts of pollution that eventually make it to Lake Michigan I would love to see you do a video on that there’s already a Facebook website dedicated to this purpose pollution in Lake Michigan

  50. Melissa Send on September 16, 2019 at 8:36 pm

I love the video. Never heard of you guys before. Thanks for sharing your trip. I live just a bit north of Traverse City, in Suttons Bay. Some things I would recommend is mentioning the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes are not in TC, they are in Glen Arbor. TC tends to take credit for the dunes(and even the cherries) as obviously its more well-known than the smaller surrounding towns. I say they take credit for the cherries as well simply because the majority of the Cherry Orchards are in Leelanau County and not in Grand Traverse County. As a local, and a Cherry Farmers wife, don’t get me wrong TC is fantastic for the most part I just like to let people know the differences. ๐Ÿ˜€
