I feel that maybe some here have over reacted a little due to the title – he’s out there, he’s investigating and trying to find new places and is passing the word back to the rest of the world "come to England, you’ll find a whole lot more than you ever expected" which can only be a good thing.
Trouble is that Britain does tend to portray a particularly type of chocolate box idea of the country at times, via films or the tourist industry, yet the country is full of incredible nature and amazing scenery. Plus it was the very first industrialised nation on the planet, and invented much of the modern world in fact.

If you were baffled that they could build the viaduct in the 1800s, you should see what the Romans did 1800 years earlier!

There are so many great places outside London; and it’s about 20% cheaper, i’m from Yorkshire those place are 10 miles from me, but try Saltaire Vilage, Howorth, Whitby, also the hand craft beers there are hundreds.Try to come in June; warmish with long summer nights 10.00 sunset; find a pub on the moors and listen to the sound of silence!

I laughed at how excited they got out at the sheep and they were so excited.

If you haven’t already, you should visit Castleton if you get a chance. The caves are spectacular.

So refreshing to see Americans realise that England is more than London… London is nothing like England… Never say to a Northerner are you from London mega insult!!

Epic for sure. By the way loving your brown hat.

Well done for exploring past London. We go to the Yorkshire Dales regularly and it is so beautiful. I thought it was funny when Alison said Malham Cove was between 100-200 years old – It was formed by a waterfall carrying meltwater from glaciers at the end of the last Ice Age more than 12,000 years ago lol!!! For natural stunning beauty and very important historic area too I suggest you also visit Northumberland – best coastline in the UK, more castles than anywhere else in UK and the most unpopulated stunning scenery

  13. toothache90 on September 16, 2019 at 7:45 pm

You’re a rare breed of American whose traveled out of London. Hats of to you all. Also in case you didnt already know. You can only operate drones in open field areas an not in urban built up areas. That’s probably why the lady had a go at you.

Don’t "worry" the sheep, you may get shot! Yes, farmers in the UK have guns. ;¬)

  21. Spurr_ovo on September 16, 2019 at 7:54 pm

As a fellow Yorkshireman i do really think Yorkshire is the best county. The Dales is probably my fav place and i go every year with my family. (id say ive been to everyone you went) I took my Amercian Girlfriend to the Dales and she absolutely loved it, she thought it was gorgeous and couldn’t believe it was real.

  22. WonkaaVision on September 16, 2019 at 7:56 pm

Hey!! This is a local landmark for local people.

  23. Lewi Lewis on September 16, 2019 at 7:59 pm

‘Oh funny little England, they even have bridges, who’d a thunk it’? Just a wee reminder that the Industrial Revolution started right here, the worlds first railway was only 50 miles north of where you were. The worlds first Iron Bridge was about 100 miles south west of you.
The dried up waterfall is Malham Tarn, the last ice age cut off the water supply, it was bigger than Niagara Falls when in full flow. It also has a huge limestone pavement at the top if you climb up it to have a look.
Our farmers won’t shoot you, you’re in England, not America, chill out.
I like watching these quaint little films by Americans. But guys, stop assuming America has it all and did it all first, you so didn’t. While we were industrialising you guys were still scraping dirt, whipping and hanging Black folk, pointing wagons west and shooting each other. Bear this in mind.

I camped out under that bridge in winter in the snow in a blizzard; that rail route Leeds-Settle-Carlisle is world famous!! Seems you went by car; why? check it out!! https://youtu.be/3xHpnYnqY4s?t=105

  30. shaggy on September 16, 2019 at 8:12 pm

This is pretty good to watch. I go to these places quite often on my motorcycle. A nice place to go visit is Hawes. One nice place to get lost in is Ribble Valley. Try finding Ribchester in the Ribble Valley and look over the river.

  31. Batty Matty on September 16, 2019 at 8:13 pm

Also, guys, did you know that just to the side of that viaduct, when it was being built, a huge temporary township was constructed for the workers and their families to live in, including schools, etc! Also the pillars holding up the viaduct have foundations of sheep’s wool. And the tunnel which is just beyond it, is haunted by the men who died building it.

  32. Silver0Tree on September 16, 2019 at 8:15 pm

What is it with Americans and sheep? Don’t you have sheep in the US??

  33. Black KittyCat Happiness on September 16, 2019 at 8:15 pm

I laughed at how excited they got out at the sheep and they found that so cool.

  34. Classical Music11 on September 16, 2019 at 8:16 pm

Why couldn’t you believe a viaduct existed in England? lol. The steam train was invented by the British after all. I sometimes think people forget that we were the first industrialised country on earth.

  35. Charlotte Webster on September 16, 2019 at 8:18 pm

So wish I’d seen your videos and known you were up this way before! I’m from Ribble Valley in Lancashire and live right underneath the viaduct (Whalley arches) with the river directly behind us that runs the Settle – Carlisle service and just a few minutes drive in the car we have abbey ruins, castles, Stonyhurst College, Tolkein Trail, Pendle hill and place of the witch trials (takes you all the way to the stunning Lancaster Castle) and we have sheep and more sheep and friendly sheepdogs, streams, brooks and little tunnels we sometimes find sheep inexplicably wedged inside. Never involved or hurt by motorists that drive over the open moorland and they know and respect cattle grids but for some reason manage to get stuck in a small bit of stream or pipe even though they have EVERYWHERE they could go

So nice to see how excited you were from what we actually take for granted if I’m honest. If you’re ever back here let me know we’ll treat you to a proper pint, take you to a local show and sheepdog trial and get you on the Harry Potter steam train that passes our house. My son does combat and archery with medieval re-enactment group “Historia Normannis” (link at end) and they do full public displays at places all over the country including Lancaster castle and TV / film work for things like Vikings and whatnot. Nicest and most welcoming bunch of people too as well it’s an experience learning to fight and having a go.

For general reference and in case others want to know re: what to do with free-roaming sheep. They won’t harm you and generally avoid people and will trot off before you’ve got two or three steps closer. Ones right behind our house stand there looking dumb as bricks with a magpie standing proudly on their head I’m not kidding. They don’t even seem to realise there’s a magpie there to be honest but that’s sheep.

Cattle are a different story but they’re almost all in fenced farmland and you should stick to footpaths and follow signs and notices. If you want to get close enough to sheep you need a large sack of feed (or just a half sack of grain or feed) and start sprinkling it on the grass they’ll be all over you. Death by wool.

Works both ways though don’t ever rattle a crisp or sweet packet in a field full of horses cos they’ll hear it from 20 miles away and next thing you’ll be surrounded by a field full trying to rob you for treats.

But yeah if you’re here again give us a yell!

Clip of Normannis at Lancaster Castle.
