Pro-hunting: It's ethical when done right

The Exotic Wildlife Association’s Charly Seale says his organization has an ethics code for hunting. The hunts are not “canned” and it’s a “fair chase” — the animal can detect and elude the hunter.

@RuthiePople I love bow hunting bear myself.

@65DegN Ahh, In the woods around here you rarely get a sight of any animal at ranges of more than 50 to 75 feet, which I know from experience is well within their sensory range. I suppose my view on hunting is primarily affected by that, so I cannot speak either way for areas where longer shots are common.

This guy is full of shit. Hope he has a hunting accident!

@65DegN This is possibly the best argument against hunting that I have seen (I am talking about true hunting, not ranch "hunting"). I agree with you totally that this can be an issue, particularly in areas that are heavily hunted. That said, for every deer with "good genes" that is killed by a hunter, several deer with equally good genes get hit by vehicles.
Personally if I were to try to help deer, I would find a way to keep them off the roads.
A clean shot is also less painful than a truck 😉

@UrukEngineer the rifle isent telescopic. you clearly know nothing about shooting or hunting. go away

  6. @slambamfamjam on May 13, 2025 at 10:40 am

so according to you ppl harm& death caused is auto-acceptable if you:
    1:be respectful
    and
    2:eat what you killed
wtf? many cannibals have shown their victim respect too.

your stance relies on prejudice, on speciesism, otherwise it is just as silly and irrational as this:

"to be a true ethical murderer (for cannibalism) you have to respect the human-animal first. Knowing what its giving us (food)"

and the only possible argument you have is one from speciesism and thus invalid

It aint sport unless that animal has an equal chance of killing you as you do of killing it. That mean if u really a hunter get out there with a knife and go man vs. beast and see who lives. Don’t have ems or some medic on hand, don’t have a bunch of friends on hand to kill the animal of it gets the upper hand, just you and it. By definition the deck is stacked in favor of the hunter so it’s cant be a sport. In sport each side has the same rules and an equal chance of winning.

@65DegN but if their instinct is not to go out into the open its still fair as a 500 yard shot will be imposible in woods and cover but as i do i have to controll the number of rabbits for the farmer down the road as they aare doing some real damage to his crop! so i have to make long shots so they dont see me.

Thank you! Someone who knows something about what hunting is really like.

  10. @HarveyTheHunter on May 13, 2025 at 10:46 am

@tical2399 if you have a knife it may not kill it and just injur it…. so useing a high enough caliber rifle will kill its strait off. and say a fox kills a rabbit the rabbit dosent have a fair chance? a bear kills fish the fish dont have a chance? a lion kills a buffolo the bussolo dosent have a fair chance? we kill deer the deer dosent have a fair chance? its called life and the food chain! its natural to hunt all our older relations hunted we wear created to hunt.

I kill it because I love it. Yeah, I said that about carrots. Then I ate them.

  12. @jjw2795 on May 13, 2025 at 10:49 am

@walk4trot2canter3 Why would someone feed animals right AFTER the season ended? its because we want them to survive. I feed pheasants every year corn and grain, but wait until after the season is over so that they can’t be shot while eating. when the next season comes, We only manage to shoot a few of the birds, we never wipe them out. if you don’t hunt, you wouldn’t understand how hunters actually think and feel. So until you start hunting you have no say in the matter.

    that makes no fucking sense

  15. @mellostation on May 13, 2025 at 10:59 am

So many arguments on here are so invalid. Stop trying to relate to the topic if you don’t know shit about it. Stop taking his comment so literally and applying it universally. If you watched the whole episode of 60 minutes you’d actually understand the context in which he is speaking from.

it isnt fair chase but sniping.

  17. @sk8rdude324 on May 13, 2025 at 11:08 am

@theycallmelizzy1 Animals kill each other all the time. And I have no idea what this guys smoking saying that we can hunt them because we love them. I know I do it because its challenging and fun. It also can help the environments balance of the population.

  18. @nakiommi on May 13, 2025 at 11:10 am

"It’s because we DO love them that we can do that. We can hunt them. I don’t hunt and murder the animals that I love, or any other living being.

  19. @cupcakefllower on May 13, 2025 at 11:14 am

BS plants are alive they’re just easier to catch

  20. @UrukEngineer on May 13, 2025 at 11:15 am

How the **** is hunting a "fair chase"? What prey do you know packs a telescopic rifle?

  21. @FlyTour69 on May 13, 2025 at 11:18 am

Why do people drive cars? REAL men walk everywhere! Also it isn’t fair for the squirrels and the deer that get hit by cars, so we either gotta give them cars too, or run them over with our feet! XD

  22. @Mrpielover66 on May 13, 2025 at 11:21 am

This guy isnt saying that you have to like, want to pet the animal, he’s saying that to be a true ethical hunter you have to respect it first. Knowing what its giving us (food) now you can hate on me all you want, but its respect that this guy is talking about.
