DYI: PVC Pressurized Water System on a Toyota Tacoma

DYI: PVC Pressurized Water System on a Toyota Tacoma

My son works in the field a lot and gets his waders and equipment dirty and muddy. So we came up with this air pressured water tank. It hold around 8 gal. of water. We built the tank out of PVC piping and welded our own brackets to mount inside of his Toyota Tacoma. Since the Tacoma has an electric outlet in the bed it was easy to hook up an air pump . With 25 to 30 psi in the tank the water comes out like a garden hose.Over all it ended up working really well. This would really come in handy when camping or doing other outdoor activities. Everything was bought at a big box store , auto supply and Amazon.

You get a little pump like this you can drop it into any tank you need to in the back of your truck and not have to worry about pressurizing it just cut the stupid alligator clips off and wire it to a switch

How long does it have decent pressure for if pressing trigger continously? I done similar but with a water pump and used my rear bumper as the water tank on a wrangler.. Have a different vehicle now that bumper won’t hold water so looking to do the same..

Great Build! You had some great ideas that helped me with mine! Was wondering since the weight (maybe 60-70lbs loaded?) is fully supported by the factory rail system, have you experienced any bending or warping to the rail? Thanks for the vid!

When did you start welding? Impressive display of various skills.

  31. ScorpionRegent on September 16, 2019 at 7:14 pm

The Muz Shop – Nice build. Love the custom welded hangers. Hey it’s your day job, so of course, your beads are perfect . The quick release system is pure gold. I have a few humble suggestions for the next build. Your paint job which will start to show scratches double quick. Try covering the whole works with black bed liner or undercoat to give it a extra thick skin. You might consider switching the hangers the passenger side. When parked in the street it’s a lot easier to fill up with a hose at the curb rather than run it all the way across (undo, around) the truck and perhaps stand in traffic. Once again nice build and thanks for sharing.

  40. Richard Burgess on September 16, 2019 at 7:21 pm

Sloppy work should use clear primer and glue. Sloppy is as sloppy does. Sloppy sloppy sloppy.

  41. Jeffrey Webster on September 16, 2019 at 7:22 pm

G’day really like the idea, wondering you have tried to see how much pressure it can take as in when pumping air in or with water + air does it need some sort of pressure release valve for when it heats and expands? Thinking about making one or two for camping

  42. humphrey herodico on September 16, 2019 at 7:25 pm

Where did you buy that straps?
