The US cake industry is so trash in comparison… only buttercream or fondant… The only fresh cream cake I’ve found at Walmart also stopped selling… Even the cakes in anime are so delicious looking and seeing the slices you showed, I can see why and I’m so jealous…
A former coworker’s mother was Vietnamese, and the cakes she could bring in for birthdays were AMAZING, usually topped with a gazillion fruits in a gorgeous glaze. People would come from all over the building just to view the cakes! It was only later I discovered that Vietnam was once a colony of FRANCE, so I was not surprised when I thought about those cakes. OH…and Vietnamese coffee is the bomb, too!
Okay, I’m an American from the West Coast. What is the difference between lemon pie and lemon meringue pie? The lemon pie kind of looks like lemon meringue pie, but I’m thinking that my eyes are deceiving me.
If you want true heaven with your sweets/cakes:
A. You either make them yourself at home from scratch following the true good recipes.
B. You go to Eastern Europe, to this day they are the best BY far and vastly superior in terms of cake recipes and reusults. Follow their recipes if you wanna make them yourself, but a good cake is no beginner level, so beware.
Oooh yeah, im going there this weekend for sure! Actually i used to work at a very lovely bakery similar to this out in the iinaka, but the only time they had pie is when i would make my pumpkin pie in there kitchen for everyone to enjoy on Halloween. We would bake enough for the whole town!
Every off-the-beaten-path neighborhood in the big cities has a little bakery tucked in that makes the most wonderful pastries, sweet rolls and cakes. In the US, a bakery tucked amidst homes and smaller apartment complexes would never make a go of it, but in Japan, they thrive. And the items they make are world class. One little bakery down the street from my wonderful hostel, Bedgasm (yes, that’s the name, and very clean and comfy!) had the most gorgeous array of pastries and cakes. I thought I’d get something for dessert on my way back but they were sold out by 4:30! Further down the street, about 3 blocks, there was a bread/sweet & savory rolls/pastry shop, run by lovely hubby and wife team. Their chestnut tarts (max 2 bites, at about $1.50) were my daily start plus the XLNT 100¥ coffee from 7-11. I even got 4 to take on the plane, they were that good! In Paris, they’d have cost 6-7€! In the US, if you could even find chestnuts used in a mini tartlet, it’d be $7-$8.
Of course, you CAN get the insidiously delicious melon pan at 7-11. Honeydew scented cloud-like pastry, filled with honeydew flavored like marshmallow creme with your 100¥ coffee. I’m addicted to those too!
😂🎩🤏

For some reason, the vibe you give off reminds me of Saiki Kusuo from the anime, “The Disastrous Life of Saiki K”.
This place on my bucket list since years… :/
Asians when tasting cake from an Asian bakery generally say, “It’s not too sweet.” This is high praise.
looks delicious! wow!!
:O Oooooohhhhh!
And I’m allergic to vanillin 😡😢
Asia legit gets bakeries better than America every could.
Croissants ARE SUPPOSED TO BE FLAKY BECKY!!!!!!!!!!!!
Looks good shame I doesn’t like bread or cake or pastry or sweets .
Katamari Damacy?
Japanese cheesecake is the best. I crave it.
Yummmy!! 🍋🥧
It’s not meat, noodle, egg.
Your victory will be short lived.
But for now… you win.
I love Japanese pastries. They have a great balance of textures and flavors and are not being overly sweet or heavy.
Yeah this is on my list next time I’m in Tokyoooooooooooooooooooo

cakes in japan are the best in the world by far
Omg I will go here if I’m ever in Tokyo.🎉❤
Bakery isgreat.🎉❤😊
Japanese pastry is trash.
No matter how broke I was, I would always find a way to buy a pastry… and didn’t even like to eat pastries before!
That jumpscare though. I thought we were calmly looking at a tree until that pie swooped in at x0.75 speed
Fun fact: Japan just won nr 1 at the pastry championships ..
I needed you to get one of everything
the little store is giving Ghibli. Also, I need that lemon pie in my mouth NOW.
That looks like such a nice little place, and the food looks lovely. <3
no visits from your pigeon friends?
Rare is a translation for some part of it not being cooked. Like the cheesecake part was probably cold-set instead of baked.
Beautiful little shop and food made with love
Can we explain the choice paralysis of a mosquito at pride?
How long have u lived in Japan for and we’re u born there or no
WHY THEY DONT HAVE SET IN SIDE? WHEN THERE IS SNOW ❄️🌨️ PEOPLE WILL FREEZE 🥶.😊😅😮😢🎉😂❤
I mean good with 5 “o’s” is pretty good but 6!! You’re making my mouth water.
Have you had a keylime pie cheesecake with an actual keylime pie in it?

That lemon pie cake (and all the other desserts) look so good omg 🤤🤤
Interesting that it has an English name.
I dont eat lemon pie. But this looks light and not overly sweet dense or tart. I think i would love this fluffy pie
I love lemon desserts and this looks incredibly tasty!
You had me at lemon.💛
If posible can you try and find smokehouse in hiroshima…
Cheesecake with yellow cake is on my bucket list of foods to try now
You should visit quatre épice in Shizuoka city. There may also be one in Tokyo. That is my favorite patisserie!

I really want lemon pie.

Nahh I have to disagree. Japanese only know to do sweet stuff. It is so hard to find decent bread in Japan
