Two week hunting season?? Ouch. Hate to rub it in but where I live it’s only not hunting season for three months of the year. It’s a nine month season for bucks and six month season for does with no restrictions on rifle/ bow days. Limit is 15 deer/ year.

Solid vid straight to the point, talking from personal experience. Nice to come by. So thanks mate, thinking of giving bow a shot after a few rather unfortunate seasons. But for my unit we get to hunt rut with bows for an entire month. So worth a shot. Also whats your experience with bow performance and elk?

Is there a difference in rate of only wounding the prey?

A rifle is more humane in distance and power. I think bow hunters intentionally hide the number of wounded animals that run off and die for nothing. Statistics prove it, look it up. We owe to the prey to do our best to be humane. I hunt wild boar in Greece with corn bait = I place the bait then go the next day to see if they ate it. I have become quite good at turning their sense of smell against them. Never killed one, don’t even own a gun or a permit. But I can practice baiting them all year long. Hunting can be many things. Bow hunting is going to the wrong direction, in my 2-cent opinion.

I’ve been trying to weigh the pros and cons of both bow hunting and rifle hunting; and, your video provided a lot of useful info that has helped me make my decision. Thanks so much for sharing; I appreciate it! 🙂

Another thing I would include would be multi purpose because you can use a shotgun or rifle for home defense and hunting but a bow can only cover one of those

i guess the length of seasons seem like the main reason forn many bow archers over guns

I’ve always rifle hunted with my dad since I was 7 I’m a sophomore now and I want to get a bow to start bow hunting along with target practice. I went to a hunting expo and this bow shop tried to sell me a $1,300 beginner set up that was just a bow and sight. This vid was really helpful to know what to look for.

Rifle has a cheaper start up cos
t over the long term. Buy a rifle and scope. Spend forty a year on two boxes of ammo. One to sight in. One extra to have enough bullets for missed shots. Next step is to set up a stand or several stands. Once in place they can last year’s. Thats the gist of rifle hunting. Your rifle can shoot several hundred yards. Not much need for something to attract game outside a food plot. Bow hunting is completely opposite. You need all the accessories and gear you can supply and carry. You have maybe 40 yards to kill an animal. Getting them in range is the hard part. So is shooting a bow unless using a crossbow, which is still harder than using a rifle. The archery season is longer for a reason. One month of archery is likely the equivalent of 4 or 5 days of gun. Archery is always harder in any form than gun. But it may feel more accomplishing and rewarding. Archery also requires less space to hunt safely.

Which is more difficult to learn? I’m guessing bow.
