Interesting information 😊
Excellent video! Thank you. 🙏
We have been members of Harvest Host for 4 years and only stayed one night at one. Too much hassle. Each year brings more restrictions and rules. The owners of the company are now trying to control camping throughout the country. Beware.
We were members of Thousand Trails for 3 years and stayed at many of them from Vegas to Florida. Most of them were in poor condition. Some are in Steven King condition.
For the most part we did enjoy our stays but we did not get our moneys worth from the membership. Many times you’ll be told that there is no availability but if we stop in, as we have done, we find the place to be about 25% occupied. One in Florida was about 95% occupied but they gave us a spot for a few nights. The 2 in the Keys lied and said they were full. They were not…..but they only allow a couple of spaces to Thousand Trails members (that was 2020).
This is Great I had no idea once my wife retires we will be camping all the time, I think a drivable motor home for us then
We have KOA, FMCA, Passport America, and Good Sam. They work well for us.
Harvest Host can’t fit our 43 ft Diesel in most locations. HH is good for a RPod or a B van
Thank you both for the great information!! Any other organizations or places to stay if one is NOT RVING, and just sleeping in my car, needing no hook ups for example, please? Thanks in advance!!
I really enjoyed your video on the cost and facts of staying at different places and the membership info. We are in the process of down sizing and selling the sticks & bricks to go full timing in a new 5th wheel. I’ve been watching a bunch of videos about boondocking on BLM & COE land and other ways to save $$$. We also belong to Boondockers Welcome, Passport America & Good Sam. We also use Coast to Coast & Travel Resorts of America. I have been thinking about joining Thousand Trails and Harvest Host. Maybe after we get out on the road we will see if they will be beneficial to us. I’ve started to use RV Trip Wizard for trip planning. Good luck in your future travels and we’ll be watching more videos.
Great, new subscriber here!
You left out the best deal. Get an ‘America the Beautiful – Senior Pass’. While currently the cost is $80 for a lifetime membership, I got mine a few years back for $10. What do you get? – 50% off camping fees in National Parks, National Monuments, Corps of Engineer’s campgrounds, US National Forest Campgrounds, and BLM campgrounds. Not only 50% discount on camping spots, but you can enter national monuments with no fee. I suspect that the $10 I spent on my senior pass several years ago has saved me thousands.
Personal experience—> KOA sells your personal info, don’t give them your phone number.
We had the upper level membership with Thousand Trials for a combined total of 400 days+ over multiple years.
Here are some things you should know:
1. This one is really important to the camping experience. The site quality varies considerably and falls far below acceptable levels, far too often. Maybe your sewer drain is a bit broken, or perhaps you are extremely close to your neighbors, or getting into your site is a big headache. Visit some of the parks and look at the actual TT sites. Not good.
2. Most sites are chosen for you. Sometimes you can switch, but you pick from the leftovers.
3. TT lists the total number of sites at each park so it sounds like a lot, but a small fraction of those sites are for TT members. Usually, the best sites are not for TT members. Don’t be fooled. Very discouraging.
4. The quality of facilities and grounds varies considerably and again is far too low, too often. Mold in the laundry and bathrooms, sewer smells, dog crap and poorly draining areas are just a few of the things where you will ask yourself “who thinks this is ok?” repeatedly.
5. The folks in Reservations do a good job, but your membership might have some surprise limitations. It’s frustrating when you paid for one thing and you get something less.
6. On a scale ranging from campgrounds to parking lots, TT parks are much closer to parking lots. If that’s your thing – great.
7. The online reservations did not work well. Let’s call it misinformation.
8. Our trips were mainly along the entire Easy Coast, so the West maybe different, although companies usually have a culture that covers their whole operation.
9. We sold our membership and would not buy Thousand Trails again if we had a do-over.
10. Regardless, good luck to you in your adventures.
Thank you. Thinking here about Thousand Trails. After watching your video I think I will go for it.
We are BW hosts in NC. Connies Camp Spot.. we love it..
Vote ,Trump if you want to save American and money , Latino Americans for MAGA
Please turn off the music it’s idistracting
Thanks good information
Thanks very much for the reviews. Obviously honest, and natural reviews!! 🙂
Thank you so
Much for sharing this video ❤🌷♥️.
They look great!
Good Sam is not a good deal because discounts may not be available in the south during winter and on weekly rates. Camping world items have a high mark up, better to get items from Amazon for much less.
YOU COULD TURN THE CHEESY BACKGROUND MUSIC EVEN LOUDER BECAUSE WHO IS COMING HERE TO LISTEN TO INFORMATION!!!
Are you guys from the Tennessee area? I found you guys a very unconventional way. Haha i was riding through traffic and someone had a tire cover on the back of their car that said "RV America follow us on youtube!" So here I came running to youtube and i swear the man in this video looks exactly like the man who was driving. It would be cool if yall were local to me!
Today we joined RVovernights for $25 annually and locked in for life at this price. It is competing with Harvest Host which has increased its fees tremendously.
Thanks for sharing your great videos and new subscribers here!! Appreciate your tips! 💕Happy travels-Zack & Linda
There are alot of 5 star resorts in Passport America. Been with then since 2001
Camping World has been a nightmare for many of us.
I find the best rates at county and state campgrounds in Florida. Senior residents get 50 % off. No membership
fees.
Pass Port does have dives but I would go into that🥴 KOA is way over priced, no, no😱
Just find your video, love it. This is one of my favorite topics. We’re full time and try to find the best of price and comfort. You didn’t mention our favorite, Coast to Coast! Your 78 nights would have cost me just over $4 without a huge up front investment. Let me know if you’d like for me to explain how it is possible.
Excellent content. Consider using an audio interface and mics to really set the bar high!
Great review. We have been living full time for about 18 months, 90 days in Ukraine, and will be starting to move around the country beginning in July. Looking at all the options
and your review and information were great. Thank you
I looked at something called Campendium, it is really interesting. And I didn’t have to pay anything to look around. But it shows you things to do in your area! I really liked it.
Super review best of your RVing Campground Memberships, with lots of information about, thumbs up 1.1k
NOT EVEN GONNA FINISH WATCHING THIS VIDEO. U PEOPLE HAVE MORE MONEY THEN COMMON SENSE
What about escappees
Your video is very informative, but the music is very distracting. Thank you for sharing😊
I’m about to retire, and my wife and I plan to be part-timers. We have a bumper-pull toy hauler and plan to venture out into the US with our Harley. We’re excited about our adventures to come. One question about the boon-docking places. What are the ‘rules’ or etiquette codes about using generators (especially the quieter inverter generators) at boondocking sites that don’t offer power?
Do you ever stay on BLM land?
the best campground memberships are the ones you actually use.
we have had harvest host…..a waste of money and usually more expensive than just paying for a campground if yoi follow the rules.
we have passport america……make are money back every year. but the campgrounds have tons of eukea and restrictions.
boondockers welcome was freat in thw beginning but since harvest host bought them not so much. a lot of members are now chargong for stays
the koa, pretry clear cut on the discount
good sam with the camping world and fuel discount isnt bad
Thank You For The Reviews.
Thank you this was the best video I’ve found on the cost of these Clubs.
Thank you for great sharing have a good day take care ❤❤
Thanks for the info. Safe Travels!
the only one to me that’s any good is GOOD SAMS. Thousand Trails is a huge rip off
BS
Is it OK for non Americans to get passport america ????
Loved this video, it was so informative! We are getting ready to dive into memberships. I have a few questions for you. When you utilize Book dockers or Harvest Host, is there a website or app. to help find a dump station? Are there dump stations out there aside from other campgrounds and parks? What kind of fee comes along with a dump? You two did a great job on the video and made it very easy to understand the savings involved in each different membership.
Because you used Thousand Trails 78 nights vs 21 for Boondockers Welcome 21 night then Thousand Trails saved almost 10 times the money even if it was not in all the places you wanted to go. Just saying.
That’s right….yes dear.
Just met you at little meadows in Grantsville MD, very nice couple. Go Bucks!!!
