Everything Needed for an Around the World Adventure – 100% Camping – rtwPaul's Full Travel Kit
Do you pack too much? rtwPaul unpacks and breaks down his entire kit for around the world motorcycle travel. This includes EVERYTHING he carries in his panniers on the KTM 500 EXC! You might be surprised at how efficient he is. Paul camps almost all the time and he doesn’t use hotels or hostels. His bike is his home.

You should check out the guys who go round the World on just a 50cc Scooter or Bike , they are loaded up like they are Sherpas trecking up Mount Everest
They even carry spare Tires
I prefere a Scooter because it’s like sitting in an Armchair and you can carry tons of gear because your only going on average about 30 MPH
The idea of a World tour is to see everything around you and stop often
Plus you don’t have a Time Schedule , there is no rush to get anywhere.
You might not agree but that’s OK
Safe Travels
bikecover for security? Please tell me more Paul..
You can see your intent is to advocate the adventure. Very informative but very to the point. Fine business sir. Thank you.
Bags inside bags inside bags… Seems like you like bags, problem is half of the load is just bags.
Soooo, where do you keep your food and toilet paper?
I like how you pack your luggage, it was smart.
Would you mind to also share how you get gas when you were at remote? I don’t know if I should carry an extra 10L gas tank.
So no chain repair and cleaning kit? No fluids (brake, coolant, forks) outside of oil mentioned at the start? No extra fuel tank for the pesky areas where you have 500 or more Kms between fuel stations, KTM 500 goes like 200-250Kms on a tank and yeah in civilisation you get stations all the time but like in Amazon or Siberia? You said that FAK and all that is not needed to show but when you take all these small items you are suddenly with another bag. And do you truly rely on just your hydration bag? I mean I never went round the world but just a day in hot weather in full gear makes me go through 3-4l of water easily, more if I need to cool down the engine or cook something. No regular service parts? Like you mentioned oil change at the start but I see no oil filter. Also no clutch plates, something that may need replacing quite easily if you go through desert, snow or jungle. I think overpacking is not a bad thing, the last thing you want in the middle of nowhere is to think "Well, I have that at home"… A folding chair takes up about as much space as a can of chain lube so weird that you mention that but no mention of the other things listed (outside FAK). Where do you carry food? Like just my backpack is basically full of food for day and I do use MREs here and there for their compact size and low water demands (also no need to carry stove).
I am not calling bullshit just genuinely curious how do you do without things I’d consider essential for endurance ride like round the world trip.
Nice tool kit idea, keeps weight low!
who all came here after shumi guide on International touring ?
Can you give me an idea of the total weight for all that?
how the fek can you get around the world on a 500 with 15hr rebuilds ? making no sense.
What do you do if you break down in remote area and unrepairable?
Also bikes have so much gadgetry now I’d wonder how well local mechanics can repair these bikes?
No knives? Fork?
Hi i’m curious What tools do you carry ?

What is the name of the stove ??
what do you eat, mre’s and where do you store it?
What about clean clothes dirty clothes management? Don’t many people keep their dirty clothes in a separate bag after.?
Extra fuel if he is doing remote trails and what is he eating?
Why is the bike cover important for security?
What tires do you use and how long do you run them on your trips?
Food?
So far the best
Come to Iran and enjoy with the most hospitable people in the world as well as the most delicious foods in the world, dessert, bread, ice cream and…
بیا به ایران و با مهمان نواز ترین مردم دنیا و همچنین خوشمزه ترین خوراکی های دنیا از خوراک دسر نان بستنی و …. لذت ببر
I’ve done the same thing with international bicycle touring. Only the most basic gear means less weight, less junk to deal with and many things can be purchased en route and disposable.
Thats sweet !! Thanks for the video sir.
Curious, what part of the world are these trips in?
In the United States,
I travel mainly in the north west in central Northern of the United state, the extreme minimalist approach definitely doesn’t work,
Extreme weather changes from extreme hot to sub freezing within hours even in the same area,
Extreme distances between places to get gas and food,
Where are these trips you’re taking with so few supplies?
You’re Minimalist for sure! I need a bit more to keep me happy !
you are cool👍
a perfect video….
Late to the party… but, where is his food? Water?
Didn’t look like much room left for carrying food and water…
Best video on the internet. Actual real adventure advice. How do you find the places to stay?
Is 21 inch tube can be good inside 18 inch rear wheel mate!?
Brown Maria Brown Daniel Davis Joseph
why do you throw your kit on the floor like a bell end
Need a riding partner?
God those snare drums are ridiculous!
So impressed with the KTM 500 EXC. Does it all. Can’t grasp how some select an adventure bike that weighs more than my Yamaha FZ-10. Ride on
Great video. Right to the point. 👍✌️
OK, I know you probably get asked this a lot, but I have to ask. How do you afford or finance such travels? Great career, high paying job, sponsorship, odd jobs, etc.? I just really wanna know because when I daydream about this stuff that’s the number one thing that shuts me down.
Epic video thanks RTWPaul! I have a suspicion you’re sponsored by Klim? 😝 lucky sausage.
I wonder why do you say hard boxes do not work for dirt bikes?
Wonderful video!! After several trips I find myself taking less and less stuff with me. Like you said, you only need the essentials, there’s stores everywhere for anything else!
I can’t believe you choose a 500 EXC for going around the world. It needs a lot of maintenance – how do you manage this on the road??? Where do you carry all the spare parts? You don’t get this stuff in an African store
what kind of tent do you use ? I’ve been researching to try to find a tent which is reasonably priced whilst compact and decent quality i.e waterproof / good ventilation etcc
Superb!
A misrepresentation. It depends on what you have in mind. Do you just want a trip or a combination of trip and vacation;)
I take more than that if I’m just going to Tesco’s
If a Cover is your only security then good luck with that , that would get stolen within an hour in the UK , i kid you not.
Most people have 2 disc locks and 2 heavy duty chains and an alarm , and they still get nicked in broad daylight.
Trying to insure a bike in the UK is getting near Impossible , i was quoted £800 for a 125 Scooter for just 3rd Party , which means if your bike gets stolen your not insured , or if it catches fire your not insured.
Guys who live in London are being quoted like £4-7K for a 1,000cc bike Insurance
Food? Mechanical spares? Extra fuel?
Looks good to me. Why make a bike less enjoyable to ride by adding excess weight.
