7 Crucial Safety Tips from an Adventure Guide | Surviving an Arctic Trip

Plan, Prepare & Stay Protected! How do we work with safety during our longer adventures? What is the most important? What kind of gear do we bring? How are we planning and thinking?

In this video, Matti who has been working as a wilderness adventure guide for 30 years will talk you through 7 essential safety tips and explain our way of planning and working with safety while he’s on a 6 day dog sledding tour with four guests. Traveling from the woodlands in Jokkmokk up to the wild mountains. Outdoor safety is a huge subject so he just ”scratch on the surface” and while editing this video we see that we can easily make a second video about the same subject. For example on this tour we stayed all nights in cabins but while winter camping you will have other safety routines.
For us trip planning, packing the right outdoor gear, planning food etc. is a natural part of our work. If you are experienced in making wilderness or outdoor adventures it’s comes natural for you but it’s always important to make a reflection about your routines and actions now and then.
Safe Trails! Matti & Stina

We are Stina & Matti and we live in Northern Sweden in a small place called Jokkmokk. Except for making videos we also run a small company called JOKKMOKKGUIDERNA and a kennel called WORKING HUSKY KENNEL. We offer guided outdoor tours in Swedish Lapland all around the year. During the winter we mostly do dog sled tours and in the summertime, it’s hiking tours, wildlife safaris, canoe, and packraft trips. We live year-round in Jokkmokk with our Siberian Husky and 2 Border Collies.
