Sorry but your repeated cursing causes me to stop viewing your channel. You have decently good content BUT . . . . Maybe you need to do a video on how you started losing viewers because of your potty mouth!!!

Who in the HELL are you to call anyone STUPID ⁉️Yes, I understand that you are a Narcissistic content creator but in this realm you have no cause to berate people that don’t do the same as yo.u. People begin somewhere and progress, mistakes are inevitable- part of the learning experience. Soooo get your head out of your 🫏 and maybe show some humility and grace to people who are in the process

Rain jackets are *not* for keeping you dry while hiking. They are for keeping you dry in camp. You are getting wet regardless of the type and quality of your jacket.

I know this is a hot take, but it’s how I and most of my friends thru.

You really have to know yourself and know your body for this to work.

    Two exceptions:
    * temperature is below ~40F
    * those who move slowly and can’t generate enough heat. Even then I would consider wool instead of a waterproof.

Have you ever wanted to hike the AT??

  6. @Im_With_Stupid on July 10, 2025 at 12:11 pm

Bring on the suck! As a great man once said "I’m wide awake, I’m pumping blood, I cursed my cards into doves, and filled my wounds with salt and mud, cause you’re getting dead or getting tough."

  7. @stonefox2546 on July 10, 2025 at 12:12 pm

Pack liner + rain poncho that will go over the backpack for me. Layer that shit up. And poncho doesn’t make you wet from sweat.

  8. @OfficialSituation on July 10, 2025 at 12:14 pm

A better idea would be to take your eyes off the trail and look directly up with your mouth open. Free water

  9. @LABoyko on July 10, 2025 at 12:17 pm

Have no choice but to "embrace the suck" in order to get through each one of your videos.

  10. @charm2800 on July 10, 2025 at 12:19 pm

living and hiking in Oregon, rain is the first thing you pack for, and it can be cleansing for the soul, even though it sucks. If you are prepared and have the appropriate gear, it can be enchanting. But you have to go into the hike as if it’s the norm, and in Oregon it is the norm. In Oregon, you have to dress as if it will rain, wear quick dry gear and NO COTTON. Once cotton is wet, it doesn’t dry very fast/fast enough, and you can go into hypothermia quickly at high elevations. Also, make sure you have good shoes that wont let your feet get wet, wet socks and shoes can also be a road to hypothermia. If you’re planning an overnight and the weather changes drastically, quickly, reassess your plans and whether its better to head back to the trailhead/your car. I’ve seen this happen in the Cascades in summer. A beautiful sunny day and then suddenly change into thunderstorm weather with heavy rain. Sometimes it’s not worth trying to stick it out if it’s a bad storm

I’m sorry, but if your pack cover is not keeping your pack dry, you either got a crappy one, one that doesn’t fit, or your not using it properly. My pack cover keeps my entire pack dry, I do use dry bags for all my extra clothes and electronics, just as an extra measure. I love dry bags!

  12. @StamfordBridge on July 10, 2025 at 12:21 pm

So I should suck the embrace. Got it.

He was thought to have schizoeffective disorder, but he refused medication for his problems. He would go on days-long depressive episodes where he would not eat or interact with people he lived with. He may have been in a weakened state with a depressive episode and without human contact may have died of thirst or starvation or just plain died, while having a depressive episode in his tent.

I hike a lot in Taiwan, it’s a tropical island which rain a lot (sometimes over 200mm in an hour), if you are certain a pouring weather is waiting in front and you still want to hike in a high heat very humid environment, here are my tips:
    1. Using umbrella when possible, if the trail is paved and the wind is not strong, umbrella is way better.
    2. combined with rain skirt, it’s a good friend with umbrella and poncho.
    3. Poncho if rain is heavy but the trail doesn’t require climb.
    4. PVC rain boots, Amphibious Water Shoes, sport sandals are better choices in constant full day rain.

    Bar

  16. @animallover5626 on July 10, 2025 at 12:27 pm

    I like cliff bars lol.
I haven’t had one in years but the blueberry ones are my favorite.

  17. @dirtskirt90 on July 10, 2025 at 12:29 pm

I use a poncho that covers me and my gear when it rains. A wet gear bag sucks, even if your gear is dry.

  18. @stephenalicknovic5885 on July 10, 2025 at 12:30 pm

Eating a chocolate chip Cliff bar as this video started. First time seeing a video from you. You can’t make this stuff up. Actually they don’t suck. Cliff bars are by far one of the better tasting options out there. Small, packable and does what’s it’s designed to do.

  19. @ChasingRabbitsss on July 10, 2025 at 12:31 pm

lol Kyle is the person you’re talking about racing to check their tinder actually you? 😉

  20. @WarrantZeus1 on July 10, 2025 at 12:32 pm

The first mistake people do when they go on a hike is listen to people like you you never lived outside for years

  21. @aliceinwonderland8314 on July 10, 2025 at 12:34 pm

Bothy shelters are great for taking breaks for lunch or waiting for a heavier shower to pass. They take seconds to set up once you know how, warm up pretty quickly and block pretty much all wind and rain. You can buy ones to fit around 6 people, but a 2 person one is good for solo use.
My one is 2 person, when I’m alone the other seat has my bag on it. It both keeps the bag dry and weighs it down. They tend to be a bit on the bulkier side but in the right conditions they’re well worth it., especially if you’re using it with someone else.

  22. @Aukauzz on July 10, 2025 at 12:35 pm

Where’s this child get off calling people stupid so often in his videos. Should be encouraging folks to get out on these trails & provide useful information that motivates the ( newbies ) not insulting they’re intelligence just because he thinks he knows better . Besides didn’t this kid fail to finish certain trails multiple times? Be respectful use ur platform better

  23. @stewartbergman1812 on July 10, 2025 at 12:39 pm

Hypothermia can happen very rapidly, seen many young people hiking in Colorado with t-shirts and shorts, one downpour and strong winds and you will be fighting for your life in an instant

  24. @IzzysOverIT on July 10, 2025 at 12:40 pm

I typically eat an entire jar of peanut when I hike. Totally addicted to peanut butter and I love granola and obviously the end result is drinking a lot of water 😂😂😂

Great advice Kyle. Sometimes, the best hikes can be in the rain. Especially if you’re successful at keeping your gear dry

Embrace the suck …..! 100 percent correct bitching about it ruins your trip…..! Awhile ago I was hilkig in Mexico between the constant rain, the bugs and other critters and my friends constant batching and moaning I couldn’t take it it was painful.

  41. @ivanerstic6443 on July 10, 2025 at 12:52 pm

Garbage bag in backpack and problem solved. And it is good for improvised poncho, water transport, dry place in wet conditions, etc.

  42. @connerkubitz7208 on July 10, 2025 at 12:53 pm

I have a friend who always says "RAIN AIN’T NOTHING BUT LIQUID SUNSINE COMING FROM ABOVE!" whenever it rains. Sometimes it’d be pouring for basically days straight and we’d have to move miles and you just have to laugh at it. There’s nothing you can do except laugh at your bad luck and keep on moving. We all liked playing in the rain when we were kids anyways, being outdoors should bring out the kid in you. Have fun, it gets worse before it gets worse!

  43. @samimurtomaki5534 on July 10, 2025 at 12:53 pm

Pretty off-putting title. Why be helpful in instructive when you can just be a jerk about it 😂

  46. @NidusFormicarum on July 10, 2025 at 12:59 pm

The only time I have problem with embracing the weather is if it goes on for months and never seems to stop. (Yes, I do hike for months sometimes.) Eventually, I lose it start complaining. (But it takes more than poor weather to make me give up though.) It should be mentioned though that if it just keep raining for say ten days non-stop, eventually your stuff will be effected be moisture. Then you need to dry your gear inside somewhere or make a fire place.

There is one weather condition that is worse when it comes to keeping stuff dry and that is when you have a mix of ice, snow and sub zero temperatures. I still have no clue how to keep my sleeping bag dry in such weather. The problem is condensation. The moisture from your body freezes as on the outer layers of your sleeping bag and Eventually your sleeping bag is seriously wet! Not fun. And it smells terrible when the ice melts.

My number one enemy is not rain though. It’s wind. Anything more than 7 or 8 m/s and I begin to panic. Scared, scared, scared. It’s not possible to walk under such weather conditions in a mountanous area, of course, so I have to seek shelter. But the wind still drives me crazy in the tent I fear the worst. If I can talk to a friend who can calm me down it’s manageable, but sometimes there is no signal. I guess I should have a satellite phone?

  47. @meisjeViv on July 10, 2025 at 12:59 pm

Last summer I convinced my sister to hike with me for a day (was doing a long distance hike through semi-urban terrain and she lives close to the trail I was on) and it was the wettest day of my whole three-week trip. Our socks were soaked, she didn’t have good outdoor gear so she was in jeans or whatever, but we had so much fun! I still see myself stopping to wring out my socks halfway, and in the next ten steps splashing right into a puddle. She loved it and this summer I’m for sure going to take her with me on an overnight trip. Never let wet weather stop you 💙

  48. @thepamperedopossum6895 on July 10, 2025 at 1:02 pm

I have to say for the most part I like your channel… but I’m really put off by you regularly saying this is a “DUMB CHANNEL”. If it’s so dumb then why are you asking people to subscribe?

  49. @rong1924 on July 10, 2025 at 1:03 pm

I use a Gregory pack with both top and back entry. Can’t use a pack liner with back entry.
You gave no explanation about why not to use a pack cover. You put it in the thumbnail and didn’t explain it. WTF?

  50. @ke9tv on July 10, 2025 at 1:04 pm

    1. Yes, I’ve eaten numerous Clif bars in the pouring rain – out of my hipbelt pocket. I’m willing to spend a few ounces on a Camelbak because I drink more. The tube is right by mouth and I can sip without even breaking stride.
Commercial: Nope. Sugar in rehydration mix is actually important.
    2. Yes, I use a pack liner AND a pack cover – but I hike a lot in "shoulder season" and I don’t want to wind up with an icy pack. "Waterproof" packs aren’t usually seam sealed all that well.
    3. Yes. Rain jacket on the top. Food bag next if I’m not bringing a bear can. Tarp or rainfly next.
    4. Yes. I don’t think I had dry socks on the NPT any time after the first day. If you’re hiking a trail that wet, wax your feet.
    5. Meh. Life’s tough all over. A bad day in the woods is better than a good day in the lab.
