this is how I used to camp, hatchet, wool blanket, can of puritan corned beef hash, can of baked beans, kniofe and a lighter all in a WWII haversack. Friends thought I was insane, they with their done tents and down sleeping bags, me in a pine bow lean too, on a pine bow mattress, under a wool blanket in february in Canada.

5 item camp setup not including food, water, and load carriage equipment: jetboil, tent, mat, sleeping bag, leatherman.

Hello 👋 my outdoors friend, thank you sharing this informative and entertaining video. Survival camping 🏕 is not easy. Stay safe out there. 😊

  31. @apollonius6214 on January 14, 2025 at 9:48 pm

i hate being advertised to like this. it triggers somthing deep inside of me. im sorry but i can no longer enjoy this or any video of yours again. i feel like my trust had been betrayed

  32. @MikBar-nj8jq on January 14, 2025 at 9:50 pm

Tea and hot chocolate is good early morning or late night

  33. @SrenFoucher on January 14, 2025 at 9:53 pm

Hey very good video ! For being french I can tell that the french ration ar marvellous ! My favourite menu is the 7th ( the first meal Asians chiken and shrimp then it is pasta and beef )

  34. @adecrowshaw7235 on January 14, 2025 at 9:53 pm

Loving your videos, I’m new to the channel and inexperienced with wild camping. What is the best way to light a fire if you want to leave no trace? I’m thinking building it in a hole but unsure.

  35. @wildvardyy on January 14, 2025 at 9:53 pm

Could you actually do a 5 item challenge and include the bag and first aid I want to if it is possible because I’m thinking on taking on this challenge in a couple weeks to come😁

  36. @odin688 on January 14, 2025 at 9:55 pm

I understand if you’re unwilling/unable to provide yourself with food via foraging or camping. But for a mere 24 hour trip, it would be appreciated to see you redo this and count food toward your items. That part totally killed this in the beginning. Appreciate your vids, but I don’t agree with or appreciate not counting the food. If you don’t want to count it don’t bring it.

  37. @Countryboy071 on January 14, 2025 at 9:56 pm

Excellent. I’ve got so much kit, also 40 years experience. Going back to basics with a queen size merino wool blanket, a knive, bit of cordage, poncho, firesteel and some food. Ive some private woodland also. It really is surprising Going back to basics, no more than I used to solo camp in the early 1980s!!!

    Great to see, ❤

  38. @Sovietblade5.45 on January 14, 2025 at 9:57 pm

Were did you get that knife from

  39. @MikBar-nj8jq on January 14, 2025 at 9:58 pm

I like that use the available materials around you

  40. @TheRetarted2 on January 14, 2025 at 9:59 pm

5 ITEM CAMPING CHALLENGE but i pack 7 that dont count towards the 5 items!!

  41. @anthonycoleman1909 on January 14, 2025 at 9:59 pm

I live in Australia. We pay almost double what you pay in the USA. $500 for a large Osprey backpack as an example. We can’t even buy stuff from USA websites that sell outdoor gear. You guys in the USA are so lucky. Oh and you can carry guns, we can’t and if we were found with one we would go to jail

  42. @frankyboy1131 on January 14, 2025 at 9:59 pm

Hmmm. I’m not convinced that two ready-to-cook meal packs including a tooth brush, a stove, matches and combustible material, a large oiled tarp, paracord and a big knife for a one-night stay are really ‘minimal gear’ … And that tea thing seems to be a British obsession. You had your hot chocolate, didn’t you?

  43. @Idiotsincars93 on January 14, 2025 at 10:00 pm

Good video but to be fair a tent counts as one item

  44. @markankone9362 on January 14, 2025 at 10:01 pm

You dont need mutch if you know what you do

  45. @AmyOlive2010 on January 14, 2025 at 10:02 pm

    Australian MREs

  46. @clarkwestfield7818 on January 14, 2025 at 10:04 pm

Apologizing for wind and dark adds nothing to your otherwise very good video.

  47. @ElliottRodgers on January 14, 2025 at 10:08 pm

    What about Italian MRE?

  48. @toocleanpappas5397 on January 14, 2025 at 10:08 pm

Tent, sleeping bag, lighter, pot, spoon. Throw some small sticks down, cover em with moss, tent over top so the moss makes a sleeping pad. Then the rest of the night is chill out and relax in comfort. If I wanted a fire, easily done with my hands breaking sticks over my knee, but honestly the fire would just be for fun, since I would bring an appropriate sleeping bag. Or just break two sticks and use them as chopsticks and instead of the spoon bring a sleeping pad. 5 items is too easy. 🙂

  49. @FerociousSniper on January 14, 2025 at 10:09 pm

Dude, that MRE sucks. Also, I really like your pot hanger. Most youtube bushcrafters will make this overly complicated setup just to hang a little pot of water. Last time I went out, I just whittled a long stick by making a plowpoint at one end, and a notch on the other. The plow point forced it down over the fire, compressing the dirt, so it won’t droope to low with weight added. Then I made my pot hanger to hang from the notch on that stick. Two pieces of wood, and no wasted paracord. KISS.
