24 Hours in Mount Rainier National Park: Hiking the Skyline Trail, Seeing 5 Waterfalls & More

Mount Rainier National Park is a stunning natural area in Washington that encompasses the mountain and hundreds of thousands of acres that surround it. I spent the day exploring only one of the three parts of the park and fell in love with this beautiful area. During the trip I hiked the Skyline Trail, saw waterfalls and explored some of the area’s history. Check it out and let me know what your favorite part of Mount Rainier National Park is in the comments.

Oh my goodness what an absolutely STUNNING place this is. Wow wow.

I want to do this for my son’s 18th birthday coming up in October.

I hope we have glorious weather like you did. What month did you visit? I see this video was posted in October..is that when you went?

I’m just trying to figure out what the best month would be..weather is unpredictable, but hopefully we can get a good idea of what time of year gives us the best chances for a glorious day like you had. 🥹🥹😭💙.

Loving your channel by the way..just binged your UTAH road trip with your dad, and Seattle to Vancouver with your sister. So sooo good. I’m jealous.!😅

I am always amused when people refer to the summit as “the mountain”…you are already on the mountain, its base is so wide that people usually don’t realize that. That “creek” you were looking at with the bridge across it, is actually the Nisqually river, it begins at the Nisqually glacier, which you can view from the Nisqually Vista Trail. It looks small unless you’re actually on level with it, it’s flowing extremely quickly and is incredibly cold. 😉

was the trail clear though? wish he talked about if it was clear that day.

What were you planning on doing in Seattle? Getting mugged? That’s all you’re going to get in Seattle.

I like to hike with my dog so I don’t do Mt. Rainier that much, I live in Puyallup so I’m not all that far from the park. One of my favorite places to go camping and hiking is at the Lower Falls campground on the Lewis river, it’s a bit south of me but it has some great trails and 4 really nice waterfalls along the river along with a few you will see coming from tributaries if you do the river trail. I’m thinking about going camping there in the next couple weeks, the night time temps are in the low 40s but my Siberian Husky doesn’t mind and I have the needed equipment to do it in comfort.

some places in Washington where you could see some amazing fall colors are maple pass loop, blue lake, cascade pass, cutthroat pass, and Washington pass overlook.

Josh, great background music! Who are some of the artists?

  8. @mariamjehn7071 on January 11, 2025 at 9:12 pm

As the glaciers melt they create more waterfalls .. which is beautiful and tragic.. 😢😊😊😮😮❤❤❤

Washington State the best place on the planet!

This is an awesome video. I’ve been to Ranier as part of a tour, so didn’t have much time at Paradise. Now, I want to go back and hike the Highline Trail. Thank you for sharing.

It looks brilliant! Love to the best bit of America, from the UK! 🇺🇸

  12. @tuandao3299 on January 11, 2025 at 9:15 pm

what a stunning video! the scenery is absolutely breathtaking and your enthusiasm is contagious. that being said, i wonder if spending 24 hours in one park is really enough to fully appreciate everything it has to offer. the hikes look amazing, but maybe a longer trip would give you more time to truly explore and soak it all in? just a thought!

    Paradise to the glacier

  14. @brianbogholtz9485 on January 11, 2025 at 9:17 pm

I went here for the first time yesterday and the trail leading from the visitor’s center was completely covered in snow (on June 17th!)

  15. @jennyc1846 on January 11, 2025 at 9:18 pm

That was so beautiful Josh..btw when you say ‘we’ do you mean you and someone else or us??? That rainbow waterfall was put there as a thankyou to you😊

Great video! I lived near Seattle for nearly 20 years and spent much time exporing Mount Rainier. Truly one on the best National Parks.

  21. @papergenius94127 on January 11, 2025 at 9:25 pm

My favorite spot is Sunrise. There is the Sourdough trail. Sunrise is Northeast entrance. Thank you. Joyce😊

  22. @Duckling08 on January 11, 2025 at 9:26 pm

I just did this hike, disgusting amount of unprepared people on this trail.

  23. @parfenyj on January 11, 2025 at 9:28 pm

Gorgeous! Makes me wonder if there’s a national park also at Mt. Baker? I would always see it in the south when I lived in Vancouver

  24. @papacoach2074 on January 11, 2025 at 9:29 pm

I’ve hired this trail more than a dozen times. I never get tired of it.
I have also hiked many more trails (including a trip to the top). I like Comet falls on the way to Van Trump Park and Eagle Peak. Eagle Peak is usually less crowded.

  25. @samk6611 on January 11, 2025 at 9:32 pm

    Rainier get naked.

  26. @Pan_and_pots on January 11, 2025 at 9:34 pm

I am not hurting anyone. Yall can talk about it. I just have never been a victim.

  27. @BrendaHaltom-cs6ck on January 11, 2025 at 9:35 pm

Beautiful trails through my Rainier Nat. Park! Thank you for your video of it! Loved that big waterfall!❤️😀🇺🇸

  28. @ceolato on January 11, 2025 at 9:37 pm

    Thank you for the video!
How long did it take you to get to Panorama Point?
    Cheers!

  29. @anaescalante954 on January 11, 2025 at 9:37 pm

Great video! Thanks for all the tips.

  30. @aidanbarnes4290 on January 11, 2025 at 9:37 pm

I’m not a mountain climber but if I was I would rather climb Mt. Rainer instead of Mt. Everest. I would be too much effort to travel all the way to Nepal plus Mt. Rainer is a lot similar They both have snow on the top, both views are gorgeous, and both have legends of a hairy man beast roaming the area

  31. @Pan_and_pots on January 11, 2025 at 9:39 pm

    I am looking at recepies.

  32. @Adventuresover40 on January 11, 2025 at 9:39 pm

Awesome video… Is it just me or is that the jokers face on Mt. Rainier??

  33. @chino6595 on January 11, 2025 at 9:42 pm

Absolutely well done. I feel as if I wee with them to take everything in. They have the same taste as mine, love of wild flowers. I am now over 80 year of age and unfortunately I would not be able to do a small part of this hike. So thanks to both.

  34. @Dr-skit on January 11, 2025 at 9:44 pm

Check out fears to fathom a horror game in this park

  35. @Pan_and_pots on January 11, 2025 at 9:46 pm

Then I thought about the Kamala Harris add about abortion where the girl was raped by her dad from age 5 to age 12 and got pregnant. They say your brain recycles everything from that day. It comes on while your on the car. YOur mind remembers the red lights , the turns when it came onl. Then all of society starts to talk about it. I have no problem with that. Why are people mad at me.

  36. @edscot9986 on January 11, 2025 at 9:48 pm

Hi Roman, my ex told me that this mountain has not had snow on it for the last 3 years? Your comments were 6 months ago. So it appears there is no truth to what she said??

  37. @thebutlerfamilyadventures on January 11, 2025 at 9:49 pm

Love it. My family and I were just at Rainier last summer and there was still 20 feet of snow at paradise. Stayed in the paradise lodge and it was well worth it. So glad we shot a video on that trip because I’ll never forget what a winter wonderland it was, even in June.

  38. @darrentaie925 on January 11, 2025 at 9:49 pm

A top 5 park for me. Rainier NP is roughly square so actually 4 beautiful & different corners to explore besides the mountain itself.

  39. @VeeTravels on January 11, 2025 at 9:50 pm

Hasn’t it been made illegal to film this national park now?

  40. @mariamjehn7071 on January 11, 2025 at 9:54 pm

Best Mt Ranier video I have ever seen!! Number one.. not a cloud in the bluebell sky.. number two your so talented and I’ve been hooked since sometime during Covid!! 😮😊soooo awesome 😎

  41. @maronthehill on January 11, 2025 at 9:54 pm

That is Mt. Adams, not Hood

  42. @tamiwhite8233 on January 11, 2025 at 9:55 pm

Once I get up to Paradise, and I’ve been three times, I can’t hike too high up because it’s almost 7,000 feet up and my lungs can’t handle rough hiking in the thin mountain air. I probably hiked maybe a quarter to half a mile down a trail, but didn’t get to see that cool wsterfall. You have stronger lungs than I have.

  43. @jimbohammock5291 on January 11, 2025 at 9:56 pm

    Great video, dude!!

  44. @EJS1970 on January 11, 2025 at 9:56 pm

Lived here my whole life and I’m 73. Husband has climbed it many times and taken people up there. It is beautiful. Husband said you should have gone to Pebble Creek you were almost there

  45. @amberenee1984 on January 11, 2025 at 9:56 pm

    This channel is way underrated!

  46. @jonathantitus2629 on January 11, 2025 at 9:57 pm

We loved this park–unfortunately we came in a snowy year and in mid-June only part of it was open. We had a wonderful stay at Paradise Inn, but the Skyline Trail was still closed. We did enjoy Christine and Narada Falls as well as the area around Longmire, but we could not get to the Sunrise section. We have planned to return and this video increased that desire!
    Thanks for sharing.

  47. @Pigaroe on January 11, 2025 at 9:58 pm

I’ve watched mostly all your videos across California. They are awesome! Do you have a video of this place during fall?

One of my favorite places on earth. So nice to see you aiming your lens in my backyard. Seeing your video reminds me again how lucky I am to live near this stunning mountain!
