When "camouflaging" your sleep system, do you have your backpack in there with you or have it hidden somewhere else nearby?

I remember camping out in my bivi bag which was green
Next morning just a few yards
Away on a track was a open back vehicle with guys with
    Rifles out shooting rabbits
    Luckily they drove past
Green with green can be risky
    Best to be seen!

Yeah, we don’t get many of these types up here in Alaska.

One, winter is too cold to bother with it.

Two, during summer you may have a 600lb snuggle bunny with teeth like daggers and claws like razors find you despite your best efforts. Your little campsite hideaway does resemble how a bear’s cache looks ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

Three, the mosquitoes and no-see-ums will find you and convince you that they’re trying to take you away.

Four, and it relates to the second point. A brown bear (grizzly) can digest nearly everything you bring except for your pelvis and the soles of your shoes…

What are we hiding from ? Just curious,

You should go to a campsite mate , showers toilets , some of them have bars leave the hole digging to moles

You actually want to avoid black. Not much is black in the forest. Even at night blue is a lot harder to see than black. Black is darker than the surroundings which is not good at breaking a outline

I use a camo tarp and camo net, on top of a grey/brown dome tent, plus putting some foliage on top for added effect. Works very well, even though I know where it is, I still don’t see it until I’m 3 metres away.

I’m now using a cut down posthole digger for an almost instant Dakota fire hole [s] for my gas stove. But I use a bicycle trailer so heavy is not my problem. I like the simple shelter too, tho my trailer carries an umbrella I think of as almost instant shelter

Great tips for homeless ex cons camping where they shouldn’t ๐Ÿ˜Š

  36. @charles1606 on March 20, 2025 at 1:31 am

You should never put yourself in a vulnerable situation, especially if you have a loved one you may need to protect/defend. And, if you do get into a vulnerable situation, you should always have equalizers, and back up equalizers.

  37. @jacobdanielkuiper5744 on March 20, 2025 at 1:31 am

The only reason this vid made it here is because the bear and the bobcat decided to have Chinese that night.

  38. @danieljordan465 on March 20, 2025 at 1:34 am

Thanks for the vid , just want to tell you of an evergreen method , the tight knit bows in a heavy evergreen area. The ground is infested with bugs so , three ways of heat and health , while naturally clearing the area. The first is raising platform, once your off track and know your deep enough , get some good branches , bury the base 8 inches odd , and notching the tree and the branch lean them tight to, then in the close knit trees , do this twice minimum best if you can base four trees, and then notching 6 inch branches tightly wedge cross boughs the top of the lean toos and you quickly have a raised platform , about two thirds of a day and your done , earth and stone a part of it for a paint can burner , to make this you cut a paint can upside down making slices up the side folding a flap at bottom while a top side hole is the chimney outlet , puncture the base to rest cooking tins, the guttering I’m sure you can grab somewhere , cut holes up that and attach to the chimney outlet. This cools the smoke releasing it in smaller parts low to ground so it doesn’t rise. The last part is the ashes after a nights cooking , heating. Take the ash and sprinkle all around the low area platform some under and build an ash perimeter. Primordial instinct does the rest and a few hours later your camps usualy bug free. The low platform is set up during the summer , pack and sap every notch too , mud oily anything usualy works protecting the tree so it won’t die. Also only when you know your well off track deep enough in. The low chimney saves everything as seeing smoke fks everything but the cooling effect along a tube does a wicked job and safe as houses in your little log cabin. With your bivvy set to cover your platform top take as much dead brush you need and soften it up and a sleeping bag can be like a duck down bed. The best thing is , your off the grounds for rains or sub zero temperatures. With any old chicken wire webbing camo the sides and base , acts as a two skin tent and in dangerouse winds the strong base inbeds usualy push the stumps away from falling in on you. I’ve survived three superstorms in the lead up to 2017 , if your in more open wood y frame and camo up a fall and dig a body depth in , bin liners raised at the sides while bivvy top and bag remain dry it won’t fill like a pond , pad the hole raise the ground sheets and bivvy the y frame interior , the off ground and dry essential for the freeze times. Go steady guys and youl see what I mean , dual skin with camo webbing even if all you got is string make it and pull all brackon at the base of the plant so to replant upon the earth you’ve moved , it will dissapear so take compass readings to the main tracks , and mark the main track start point. I’ve also lost myself for hour upon the quantocks , upright robins just down from dead women’s ditch I was in the centre there but at night walked straight past it , so run trip line type lines if your night walker’s so if you lose yourself you can easily stray upon a line and follow it back. It took a ball of string and a alot of percivereance last time but …. TC

The whole concept of โ€œa risky campโ€ doesnโ€™t seem to fit in 2025. Maybe itโ€™s just me. (Except for YouTube content.) With a car nearby, how risky can this be? Perhaps Iโ€™m being too literal. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ it IS entertaining, which is why, Iโ€™d guess most of us are here. (?)

The stuff this video has taught me has definitely been invaluable when it came to really being able to stalk my ex-wife comfortably… I hate having to dress up like a homeless guy all the time and sleep on the sidewalk in front of her house. Thanks so much for your help, bro!
