face concealment with a mask, balaclava or face paint is very important. You can walk 60 yards away from your buddies in their blinds and see their uncovered faces easily .

What’s a good gun to start with for beginners?

Those are GREAT tips!! Thanks for sharing. I would add the following 1/2 sarcastically and 1/2 seriously.

If your hunt has died off, set your gun down and grab something to eat. Guaranteed to have birds fly by when your hands and mouth are full of food.

The same holds true when you call the hunt for the day and you start picking decoys up. Birds will set up to land in your decoys every time until they see you with your hands full of decoys.

Always carry toilet paper in your pack pack

And always keep ankle straps on your socks. Everything may seem fine but deep down my socks are sliding off my feet

Dang dude. Just throw all your cards on the table at once. Sounds like one heck of a check list. Don’t forget to make friends with a big guy who can pull the sled easier than you (Glen). Lol.

Scout. Always scout. Scout before during and after season. Take binoculars while you’re hunting. You can scout then too

here’s a few: Be courteous and do NOT train your dog if you aren’t shooting anything. I can’t count how any times people show up late and then proceed to setup within 30 to 50 yards from where I am. Last season, out of 3 groups on public land, I was the only one shooting ducks. The guys across from me decides that if they aren’t shooting any ducks, they might as well train their dog. They will throw bumpers out and shoot at it while it’s flying through the air and then send their dog to retrieve.. all the while, I was still hunting.

Really well done video Jake! Loved all of those tips!

  29. @mikegreatoutdoors on December 10, 2024 at 8:35 pm

Great tips except for combining pass shooting and sky busting. Sky busting is unethical, only creates wounded birds and shy birds. Pass shooting is completely fine. Some people don’t have the means to have decoys and setting up in a spot that gives you a good opportunity to shoot birds traveling to different spots is a great way to hunt.
