it hurts my knees to kneel on the board, even with gel kneepads. So for me it’s either sit or stand. I found that paddling around sitting on the board, cross-legged or similar, for several sessions helped me get a sense of how the board is moving below me, and eventually I was able to stand up and paddle standing.
4:22 I like the idea of swinging the board to challenge your balance, in really shallow water. You can fall off as many times as you like and it’s easy to get back on . I’ll try that next time.

Nice, a new paddle board video. It’s been awhile. I watch from England and you have been a massive inspiration for me. I keep missing your live streams but hope to catch one soon.

Focus on looking out to the horizon when paddling! When you look down for an excessive amount of time it’s easier to become disoriented and lose balance.

Tried and found I’m too goofy for a paddle board. Great info though, might knock the dust off and try it again.

  11. @INVERTpbFREAK on December 10, 2024 at 8:05 pm

I love the part where you recommend for new people to not use a leash and use their their well developed sense of whether or not they need one in a body of water.

  24. @San-69 on December 10, 2024 at 8:22 pm

Hey mate are you sure 12 psi is enough for that board? I see it bending all the time like crazy, not a stiff product at all. For sure I prefer my Jobe. It is almost a hard board not that flex, don’t like it. Sorry mate

  25. @whiteangel127 on December 10, 2024 at 8:23 pm

Hello! Just came across your page & love the videos so far. I’m just got into paddle boarding & I’m in love with it, probably a stupid question but you said in this video not to wear your leash in moving waters, why is this? Again it’s probably something I should know but just got into to the sup board scene lol.

  34. @LivingOnCash on December 10, 2024 at 8:33 pm

Great tips! Where do you keep your car keys when you’re out on your board? I just got an inflatable and will be driving to the lake.

  35. @ericwright3382 on December 10, 2024 at 8:34 pm

After 10 outings on lake (still) water, I have yet to fall off. That said, I can still learn more about how to have better balance. Great video!

  36. @heathen_7 on December 10, 2024 at 8:36 pm

Wife and I just went all in on paddle sports! Picked up kayaks and a trailer lol, grabbing paddle boards next. Maybe one inflatable and then something like the crescent sup+ for some variety! Definitely going to get a belt pfd. Thanks trip!

  37. @Keestral on December 10, 2024 at 8:36 pm

Why is wearing a leash on moving water, a danger? Can you expand on that?

  38. @edmor1086 on December 10, 2024 at 8:40 pm

I put foam on the back of my high heels.πŸ˜‚

  41. @mattsloan32 on December 10, 2024 at 8:44 pm

One major addition until you are totally comfortable. Don’t look down at the board. Keep eyes on the horizon. Looking forward will help you stay more stable especially when first launching or rising from a seated or kneeling position.
