Are you a Morman ?
I camp solo a lot. And while I do take safety measures and I am armed, this seems like a bit of overkill and creating fear. If you were going camping somewhere that you feel that afraid, find someplace else to go. In all my years, I have never ever felt a need to even think about reaching for my weapon. I have found that fellow campers are the nicest people you could find. And I doubt that murderers are going to take the trouble to come out to remote sites to try to rob somebody who has minimal belongings with them.
It’s safe to camp next to a CIA agent unless you are a president
Never forget: you can get unalived anytime and everywhere. Ahhh… America.
Sleeping with a fun in the pocket, is what i call relaxation
You carry a gun camping? Thats nuts. (Hunters excluded) Do yourself a favour and move to Australia and enjoy the freedom.
A Tip 4 all: ⚠️ WARNING ⚠️ If you find yourself in an emergency: change your voicemail to helpful information !!!
(IF WI-FI and/or networks are still available).
Bright Spotlights, machete, bull horn, put up bright sensor lights make sure you pay attention, spray rip or tear proof spray on your tent. Also make sure you are camping in a public place, make sure your car alarm is on. Make sure you got a hand gun or rifle on your person.
Dang! I used to go camping years ago. Would like to start it up again, but after hearing all these things I need to do for safety, because of all the weirdos out there now…I just as soon stay home.
That’s some good advice. Thanks for sharing
I’m a nervous wreck now 😂
How dangerous is your country?
( knuckles on cheeks ) Sigh . . .
No more ; “♩♪ People let me tell ya ’bout my best friend . . . ♫ ♬ ” — ‘ Gentle Ben ’ — ‘ Partridge Family ’ type camping.
Those days are, long, gone :
Now . . . An, ordinary, citizen needs to plan and implement a military, 5-paragraph, operations order. ( in Fred Flintstone fashion ) Sheesh. 👀
Great tips but I’d skip the kids chairs.
useless video
perimeter alarm? I’m sorry, that’s plain paranoid. Ok, maybe if you have your kids with you, but I would be embarrassed to have one at any normal camping area. And yes, I’ve done lots of camping, even stealth camping in homeless zones.. Never had trouble I couldn’t see coming and leave or talk my way out of.. and never even close to needed a gun.
Gun? Crazy
What about flares ? I think i would never hike up into the mountains, or down in the canyons without plenty of flares, and whistles. 🌿🧡
Out of appoximately 350 camping deaths each year the main three causes are:
Unroped falls
Drowning
Vehicular deaths excluding boats.
You are safer camping than sitting on your porch.
54 years old been hunting and fishing my whole life –
you dont need to buy a bunch of stuff – just go enjoy yourself.
I use a Zoleo satellite device which is inexpensive to buy and use. No voice but text to any device and can breadcrumb your travels to specified people. Works great for places where there is no cell or wifi service.
A very well known, beloved nutritionalist Doctor died last year in scorching heat, on an island in Greece. For some reason he didnt have his cellfone with him. Maybe it wasnt working ..but he had taken a shortcut to get back to their villa, up a steep very rocky slope. With not much water on him. He died of the terrible heat, only yards from a cafe. If only he had carried a loud whistle, worn a bright coloured item of clothing for the rescue choppers to see, and a local paper map he may have survived. His story upset me deeply. 🥀🌿🩵
I’ll just stay home.
Is this guy paranoid or what. It must be awful living a life in total fear. I am 76, been camping for over six decades and never felt any of the overwhelming concerns for my safety that you are fear mongering. Relax guy, not everyone is out to get you especially when out of a city and camping.
This is hilarious. I kept thinking of ways someone could make a parody video of this, but then it would just happen in the actual video. It doesn’t even look like he’s camping! He’s literally got Grandma’s back patio chairs from 1978 and the least insulated cooler known to mankind! 😂 I’m pretty sure he’s just on the edge of his yard.
Good luck, suburbia. Just keep your paranoid shit out of the Backcountry and we should have no problems.
Sincerely,
A wilderness first responder😚🤮
This is hilarious 😂
I have camped all over the world, where authorized carry a gun, i had a battery powered infared alarm, so cool, alarm sets 15 seconds after setting the simple code, covers a area sbout 20 feet anything passing through the zone will set the alarm, dog, cat thats its problem
Thank You From My ♥️
CARRY A GUN, and choose a protective dog.
Or just don’t bother camping🤣
This guy is the problem with America. Fear mongering for his own gains. Americans are now afraid of our own shadows. I go out to relax, not some sort of survival mission. Despite the crazy politics, this is still America the beautiful and that’s what I see when I go out camping. This guy is just rediculous. Screw this bs fear mongering. If you’re this scared, stay home.
And the number one way to not get deleted when camping? Don’t go camping !
Great info, thank you 👌🏼
This is ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE to anyone living anywhere else in the world (other than Israel, South Africa and Venezuela). Murder, seemingly round every corner. You need to fix your society.
11. A portable power supply to charge all the electronic devices.
Also, if you do not have a sat phone check ahead of time to see if there is cellular service in the area where you are camping.
This was a good video thank you for posting it
That’s funny. I dial your wife when you’re camping too…😂😂😂😂 just trying to lighten this very important topic. Good stuff. Like the motion detected lights. I think they are better than boundary sensors. It’s a shame this is such an important topic. It’s only going to get worse.
If you’re bikepacking long distance, you can’t bring multiple chairs or tents. Gotta keep the weight down.
A wife and seven kids, you don’t do much solo. 😂. One tip to add, don’t put tents where drunk a-holes can veer off the road and run you over in your sleep.
Robbereees ??
Holy crap, the U.S is dangerous. I’m from South Africa and when we go camping we worry about baboons and boom boxes .😮
Seven kids!?! How do you have time for this YouTube gig?
Good to learn of the choices.
Ok… this is all good if you are camping with a pickup truck…. but how the heck you going to keep all of this on you if you are hiking to your campsite?
Paranoia like this can only come from former CIA. Love how he mentions his status as an "eagle scout", as an adult! 🤣
Wow, I can’t believe you think like that. Oh ya your American.
Ex CIA telling us how to protect us? Or they know that if we follow this garbage then we are sheep
I was a high-end security advisor and have been hired to test security at homes and companies, (involved lockpicking, bypassing alarms systems, think of the movie Sneakers) prior I was head of security for the Punk Rock group Siouxsie and the Banshees. Currently I am a professional wilderness survival writer, and even I got to say, you are one paranoid dude.
My college background was in Engineering, physics & advanced mathematics and electronics, computers, & automotive (repair & building) learned from attending 3 occupational schools. I had the highest ASVAB score, from what I was told, ever in the military, and have an IQ of 154. I was told I could not join the CIA due to the use of medical cannabis. (nerve damage)
Your entire perimeter system can be taken down with a homemade EMP device. It is why I always suggest old school systems, and I only set them up for alerting me of wildlife.
Putting kid chairs around to look like there are more people is foolish. Children are often what predators are looking for or they are used as hostages so that you do whatever the bad guys want you to do, thus, you are setting yourself up as a Mark, the opposite of what you are trying to do. (personally found 2 missing persons when police could not after over a year for one, 2 years for the other)
Someone suggested getting a thermal optic or night vision monocular, I agree they are helpful.
Hansen also you forgot to explain good to hsve a m26 frag grenade at hands reach
Remember the nonhuman intruders as well, I once went camping in northern Pennsylvania and there were bear warning signs all over. Normally a small black bear will just run away if you catch one sniffing your cooler. I heard something sniffing around early one morning, fortunately it was a herd of deer.
I’m not interested in camping, just want to be able to drive from Fla to Mass. I’ll be stopping to see frirnds, my adult kids and up north to family. I can omly dtive for 5 hours then rest and will not drive at night anymore. Thank you so much for all the safety info.
You’re an arrogant, egotistical, fear mongering d—CK.
